After six weeks in U.S. movie theaters Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has overtaken
Chamber of Secrets in box-office receipts. Currently Goblet of Fire is the second highest grossing Harry Potter movie.
Over the holiday weekend Goblet of Fire made
$5.72 million and is currently at the number 10 spot. Overseas the movie has garnered
$497 million for a total global box-office take of $759.4 million, just $30 million behind Prisoner of Azkaban.
Thanks to Shannon for the reminder of my weekly updates.
UPDATE: Actual weekend figures have been given and Goblet of Fire took in $6.4 million over the holiday weekend and is currently ranked at number 9.

Oh I was thinking that it was going to be the one to make the most, and maybe in time it will be...Just give it a bit longer...30 million isn't a lot for a block buster hit like Harry Potter...It'll see the top before we know it!

Haha, not a lot of you track box office numbers much, eh?
That is half the fun!
GoF has just passed up PoA ($249 million), and CoS ($261 million) at the DOMESTIC box office (now at $262 million). GoF will likely fall in around $280-$290 million, well short of the $317 million the first made at the box office. Potter is the 2nd biggest domestic movie of the year, behind the impossible Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith ($380 million).
HOWEVER, GoF still has a shot at becoming the biggest movie of the year in WORLDWIDE box office. Potter is bigger than ANYTHING overseas.
GoF is now at $759 million, while PoA ended at $789 million, CoS at $876 million, and SS at a whopping $976 million! GoF has plenty of time to catch up with PoA, but CoS is going to be tough to overcome. Remember, Potter didn't open in some markets even up until this past weekend. Still, $880 million for GoF is possible, which will overtake Revenge of the Sith ($848 million for the year) to become the biggest film of the year!
Support Potter!

That's great! Here are some other results for my country, France:
Gof is at 6.8 millions of viewers (they don't count in $ but in viewers), and PoA finished with the same number. I believe that GoF will top PoA in the long run (the movie only came out a month ago here).
CoS finished with 9 millions viwers and Ps with 9.29, so I don't know if GoF will ever surpass that.
But who knows???

Congrats! GOF has to make just 52 million more to pass SS in the US. Even though it looks unlikely I have a strong feeling with New Year box office weekends going up that GOF still has a chance. It's atleast going to make over 300 million.
