Trend-tracking site BlogPulse has announced its list of the top blogs and various categories
in the "blogosphere" of 2005.
Harry Potter was #1 on their list of most-mentioned "people" and, along with Donnie Darko at #17, was the only other winner in the top 20 who wasn't a real person. Rounding out the top five were President Bush, Pope John Paul II, Britney Spears and Michael Jackson.
The act of blogging exploded
this year as services made it easier for anyone to write just about anything and post it online with a click. Technorati estimated in August that new blogs were being created at a rate of 80,000 per day (or one per second).

It doesn't surprise me that Harry beat out Pres. Bush at all! A) Harry Potter is much more fun to talk about because it's entertainment. B) Harry Potter is a mystery that keeps people guessing and theories flowing. C) Unlike dear Dubya, Harry Potter still has a strong following. D) There are hundreds maybe thousands of people every day who are just beginning to discover Harry Potter, while apathy for politics continues to grow...Anyway, that's my 2 cent theory on it...

I had heard how big of a thing blogs had become this year, but I didn't realize Harry Potter was at the top of the list for blogs! Pretty cool to see that it topped out such people as President Bush and the late Pope John Paul II. Just goes to show how big Harry Potter really is.

Well, world leaders are important, but I don't mind if people give more attention to good books that they give to idiotic world leaders. Michael Jackson should be number two.
