Trend-tracking site BlogPulse has announced its list of the top blogs and various categories
in the "blogosphere" of 2005.
Harry Potter was #1 on their list of most-mentioned "people" and, along with Donnie Darko at #17, was the only other winner in the top 20 who wasn't a real person. Rounding out the top five were President Bush, Pope John Paul II, Britney Spears and Michael Jackson.
The act of blogging exploded
this year as services made it easier for anyone to write just about anything and post it online with a click. Technorati estimated in August that new blogs were being created at a rate of 80,000 per day (or one per second).

That is unreal! Well I made about 10 this year. But I don't use over half of them.
Go Harry Potter! Boo President Bush!

Awesome Harry Potter! I can't believe he beat President Bush! It makes sense though because there was a huge book and a huge movie this year which was the first in HP history (having a movie and book out in the same year). Hopefully, it will be the same next year.

Here's wishing we could have Harry Potter for President! Oooh or better yet, Hermione!
The fact that Harry is more popular than George, should come as no large surprise on several levels. Harry is nicer, more intelligent and an all round better human. The Potterverse, even with Voldemort, is a much preferable place to be currently than the muddle we've made of the real world.

I'm curious how the number of times "people" are mentioned was actually tallied - I mean it's not like someone went to every single page and counted them- you don't exactly go to Best Buy and say, I want software that'll review all the blogs and count names.... the whole thing seems really silly to me., Then again, so does having a blog.

That's so cool! Well yeah, Harry Potter diserves to beat Britney Spears and Micheal Jackson!! But how do they count up all the times the words "Harry Potter" are mentioned?? That would be pretty difficult, I'd imagine....

That's way too cool for school! No, but that's actually a really cool fact. It's pretty funny that HP was one of the only non-person in the top 20. Go Harry Potter!

I'm just not quite sure how they can say how many times something is mentioned...Oh well, I only have and use one blog. I guess they just search for certain terms and phrases. Still strange to me, though.
Oh well! Go HP!

GO HARRY POTTER! I know for a fact that I've mentioned him at least ten time this year in blogs. Honestly, he is my life. There is no one way around it.
On a random note, poor Donnie Darko... I must write a blog about him right now... he deserves to be higher...
Anyway, let's all hope for a good new year full of Harry Potter and Joy!
HAVE A VERY HARRY NEW YEAR!!!
