While editors placed it at eighth, they offered another interesting choice: "Best book for kids not yet ready for Harry Potter." (It's Leonardo, the Terrible Monster by Mo Willems.)
Other categories include "Worst book by a celebrity," "Best unmasking of a historical monster" and "Most overstated title."

It is also partially diue to the marketing and hype surrounding the book's release,w hcih was the most I have ever seen for any book coming out. More copies sold, so more people read and could actually answer the USA today poll. I actually think it is a much bigger accomplishment for the editors to have named it 8th. The number isn't alwasy the most impressive, what is impresive is the context. But it is still pretty cool to be number one in any poll.

The book was just so good, the one thing I didn't like was the Harry/Ginny thing. You just can't wait for them to get together and then when they do it's like okay now what? And then they break up. What is up for that?

Hehe...
I've noticed that editors don't like to put Harry potter at the top of their lists - even the staff of iTunes. 8-) They're so odd... Good thing the readers have no problem being honest!

It's just so lame that the editors only rated it #8. It should be in the Top-3! I'm glad the readers voted it #1 though.. it deserves it.

Gah, it was obvious that it would be the best, because Harry Potter does rule all, and whoops all other book's asses (that's if they had asses, which, alas they don't, making my point rather pointless). And now for something completely different....

That's because people don't actually READ those other bestsellers...I mean, really good books don't usually become bestsellers (the exception being Harry Potter (naturally) and I think LOTR was a bestseller...not sure). But people voted it number one because everybody actually READS Harry Potter and moreover they read Harry Potter over and over again. And they ENJOY Harry Potter (who wouldn't?)..You never even hear about these other books after they become "bestsellers."
