Warner Bros. are holding an open casting call for the character of Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on Saturday, according
to CBBC Newsround.
Girls must be aged 13-16 and have a valid passport. The casting call will be at Hall Westminster, Storey's Gate, in London:
Applicants should bring a passport to prove their age, and dress warmly - there could be a long wait!
Anybody who doesn't have a passport won't be seen, and neither will girls who don't live in the UK or Ireland, and Luna is the only part they're looking for.
Warner Bros. will be taking photos and calling back girls they're interested in for a proper audition.
For the full address, click through to CBBC's article. Thanks to them for sending the tip!
UPDATE: A video of the news report is now available
where CBBC Newsround spoke with the Harry Potter film casting director, Fiona Weir
, who had this to say about casting for Luna Lovegood:
[Luna]'s very otherworldly, she's not like anybody else. She's almost an outsider who likes to watch people and she's slightly detached from the world. And she's a very interesting and unusual girl so it's that sort of quality we're looking for.
We have met lots of fantastic girls... but holding an open call is just a way of us making sure there isn't anyone we might have missed. No final decisions have been made.
UPDATE #2: WB sent us the official notice, which adds:
No experience necessary
COME AS YOURSELF – STRICTLY NO MAKE-UP, NO COSTUMES, NO HIGH HEELS.

I am so glad that they are keeping the character only a british or irish girl. That makes the movies better that all the characters are british...

I really hope they cast her correctly. She could so easily turn into a caricature, and Luna is too important a character to have that happen!

Well, I wish I were 16 years younger. And British. And blonde. And my eyes were bulging. Apart from that, I could be Luna (ha ha ha)
I hope they find the right girl. I was rather dissapointed with Fleur in GoF.She is a good actress, but...shouldn't she be more, well, stunning? Anyway, what I am praying for is that they find the right Tonks. I love her!

I wouldn't want to be Luna ( I don't like acting) and couldn't even if I wanted to because I don't look anything like her... Good Luck to all the girls trying out!

moonshinebear: You wouldn't be alone. CBBC Newsround was the sole source of the 'final 5' info last month. So something must've come up.
I noticed they're really emphasizing that those come to audition bring a passport or proof of residence. I wonder if that may have been the drawback from the final five...

I really thought that they would have chosen someone by now. I guess they really can't be that far in filming then, if they don't even have Luna. Good luck to anyone who is going to audition!

Why are they STILL only taking actors from the UK only? There are good actors and potential character actors all around the world.

There is no way they will ever take actors that aren't from the UK or Ireland. It's JKR's wish to keep all the actors authentically from there. So don't hold your breath for that to ever change. It won't.

That is so stupid that they are only taking people in from Ireland and the UK there are people in America that want to be in the movie. I would love to be in the movie I could just be a person in the background and would be happy no speaking parts or nothing

...but according to David Heyman, didn't they already have about 5 girls picked out who they were going to choose from? I thought he also said that we would be hearing about the casting decision soon.
Did they change their minds about the person they picked?

Wow, that's pretty cool, I can't wait to see who's going to play Luna, not that the role is that important, but it's still pretty exciting . . . I wonder why they are only taking actors from the UK, I do agree that that is slightly unfair because there are great actors world wide . . . oh well Harry Potter is still great!
