Well, that's really cool and everything. Just a shame that it only received one nomination, since it was way better than POA, who received 3 nominations..

Cool, man. As soon as all the big noms were announced, I got on oscars.com and started down the list looking for GoF.

I was pleased we got one of the better technical awards nods, but I was hoping for one or two others, like visual effects.

So I'm both quite pleased and slightly disappointed.

WHAT??? What happened to the visual effects Oscar? King Kong? Chronicles of Narnia? Where's GOF? Kong and Narnia's effects looked too fake. That's the problem with visual effects these days...the visual effects are supposedly good only when they are noticable. GOF's effects were so good that they couldn't be noticed...so the Oscars ignore it...GREAT.
And I'm positive that GOF is gonna lose in this category as well...the Oscars ignore the HP movies however better they get.
Well, sorry for the rant...I needed to get the frustration out.

Wow, that's cool! I'm not sure what art direction is but I'm assuming it has something to do with design, etc. So that is really great that GoF got nominated! But has it been nominated for Visual Effects, or make-up? If it hasn't I'll be very surprised! But at least it's been nominayed in those categories at the BAFTAs! Yay, good old British film awards!

GOF could win this. The art direction was fantastic in GOF. And it really should be given something for being such a well made film.
I don't always think that a movie that has made A LOT of money should but this one deserves it and if it were not for GOF [and the Star Wars movie]Hollywood might not be able to make all the smaller little films because of money problems at the studios.Hollywood has not done very well money wise last year and I think GOF helped save it.
[Don't get me wrong I love small Independent Films,I personally think they are some of THE best].
