The roles of Luna Lovegood, Nymphadora Tonks, Dolores Umbridge & Bellatrix Lestrange have been cast for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, it was announced
this morning.
As expected, Imelda Staunton will play new DADA teacher Professor Umbridge. The role of Luna Lovegood will be played by 14-year-old Evanna Lynch from Ireland who was one of the thousands of girls who auditioned in London a few weeks ago.
We previously mentioned that Helen McCrory had been cast as Bellatrix and now she has been officially confirmed. Ms. McCrory has appeared in Casanova and The Count of Monte Cristo as well as numerous British TV shows.
Natalia Tena, who recently appeared in Mrs. Henderson Presents with Judi Dench & Bob Hoskins will be playing hair-changing Tonks.
We finally get to see the character of Mrs. Figg who will be played by actress Kathryn Hunter, who has appeared in Orlando and All or Nothing.
Principal photography is scheduled to start on Monday, February 6 at Leavesden Studios.

It's a bit hard to tell...is Helen McCrory the one who played Sydney's mom on Alias? Based on a pic I found from Casanova, if I'm looking at the right woman it looks like it might be who I'm thinking of. If so, she is perfect for the part of Bella. I've seen her in other movies where she was evil & she is so good at it.
I couldn't find a good picture of the woman playing Tonks. I couldn't tell too much about her from the one on this news page, but I am so glad to see that they didn't cut Tonks' character out. I had heard rumors that they might.

This is great, thing's are really getting under way for movie five and it's just a matter of waiting to see the leaks of info that will be coming now so that we have something to hold onto untill the movie is released in 2007, along with the long awaited 7th book that is also being released in 2007

Awww...that girl playing Luna looks like a really cute kid..I love that she is a big fan of the books. That girl playing Tonks doesn't look like Tonks at all. I think I would be a perfect Tonks but I'm not brittish or an actress. oh well.

Watching her run about the kitchen with a broom was probably the one and only truly funny part of 'Nanny McPhee'.

Luna isn't how I pictured her at all, but its the acting that really matters. I hope she does act Luna-like, or anyways is a good actress becuase thats way more important than looks. As to the other actresses i think i can imagine them as the characters. Best of luck to them all filming!

Dear Lord, how did I miss this? I'd been waiting and waiting and waiting to see who would be cast as Tonks and Bella, and I totally missed the boat on this news item. I had to search for it after I saw the casting for Bellatrix on IMDb. I'm such an idiot.
Helen McCrory for Bella looks okay (having Googled for her photo), although I was hoping they might get someone very good looking and then make-up her up to look, er, Azkabaned, like they did to Gary Oldman. She has a pretty good resume, though, and she is nice-looking.
I imagined someone very cute for Tonks. Not beautiful, just very cute. Natalia Tena is rather plain and not even remotely cute. She looks rather surly and hawkish to me, which is all wrong.
Then again, I was not blown away by Brandon Gleeson when he was first cast, and I absolutely fell in love with him during GoF.
Of course, there was also Michael Gambon...
Allow me to express the fervent hope that these ladies will turn out to be more like Gleeson than Gambon.
