The roles of Luna Lovegood, Nymphadora Tonks, Dolores Umbridge & Bellatrix Lestrange have been cast for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, it was announced
this morning.
As expected, Imelda Staunton will play new DADA teacher Professor Umbridge. The role of Luna Lovegood will be played by 14-year-old Evanna Lynch from Ireland who was one of the thousands of girls who auditioned in London a few weeks ago.
We previously mentioned that Helen McCrory had been cast as Bellatrix and now she has been officially confirmed. Ms. McCrory has appeared in Casanova and The Count of Monte Cristo as well as numerous British TV shows.
Natalia Tena, who recently appeared in Mrs. Henderson Presents with Judi Dench & Bob Hoskins will be playing hair-changing Tonks.
We finally get to see the character of Mrs. Figg who will be played by actress Kathryn Hunter, who has appeared in Orlando and All or Nothing.
Principal photography is scheduled to start on Monday, February 6 at Leavesden Studios.

Evanna Lynch isn't what I pictured as Luna, but she looks okay for part. She certainly has the dreamy quality and out-of-the-world look that is crucial for the role Luna. I'm liking her already! The other casting updates are okay, too.

Evanna seemsto be a wonderful pick for Luna. I can see where a bit of movie magic would transform her completely into Luna. Plus, she's an avid HP fan (being first in line for OotP is difficult to do!). So, really, stop being jealous and be happy for the girl!
I just wish there were more pictures of the other actresses. But I guess that's fine, too. Some people would just complain about how they look.

Thats cool. Cant wait to see how all of these new people do in the movie. wish there was pictures of those other people tho. I cant wait till they actually start the shooting then we can see pictures of the filming and find out what will be kept in the movie and what will be taken out.

I hope that they'll all be awesome. I found out about Luna when I got up especially at 7:00 and I waited until I found out. I was so happy to find they announced others too. I didn't get to see any pics until now though! Thank lord Evanna is a fan and will know how much it means that the charaters are well played to us. I'm sure they'll all be great even though the only one that looked exactly as I pictured is Helen McCroy as Bellatrix. She is perfect. I'm sure the make up department will work their magic!!!

The pictures of the actors and actresses do not bother me in the least because they will be acting and there faces will change. I think Evanna will play a convincing Luna.

The rest of the cast is great, as well. I did some Googling, and I think that Tonks is just PERFECT. She's not pretty at all, yet she could be. She looks almost exactly like the Tonks in the illustrations. I'm really excited about this movie! I just hope they don't disappoint us with the plot, but after seeing GoF, I think this may turn out to be just fine.

BRILLIANT! So far the casting seems amazing, and it's funny that out of the last Luna update I expected one of those other girls to portray Luna Lovegood! But Evanna Lynch seems to look alot like a Luna, I'm glad she got the part I'm sure she'll be a terrific actress!

I remember Helen MCcrory from Anna Kareina and she was good. Imelda Staunton is good, (have already seen her in other films) My conclusion is that OotP will be JUST GREAT.

I am surprised at their choice for Bellatrix though. I pictured an actress with more angular features... warrior-like features. I thought Joanna Lumley would have been an awesome Bellatrix, as she fits the warrior archetype (to me anyway). Not to mention, she plays wicked so well. :) But looks aren't everything, and I do like and apprecitate what I have seen of Helen McCrory, so I know she'll be great.
As far as Mrs. Figg, I know absolutely nothing about Kathryn Hunter, but I'm confident that she's a very good actress, otherwise she would not be cast.
