With all the news today about the upcoming Harry Potter film, actor Daniel Radcliffe discusses how he has prepared for his role this time around by meeting with a grief counselor so that he could understand survivor's guilt which is so prevalent in the book.
Daniel on understanding his role in Order of the Phoenix.
Sirius is clinging on to James (Harry's father and Sirius' best friend) through me, and I'm trying to know my father through him. The same thing happens with me and Cho. I was the last person there when her last boyfriend, Cedric, was killed.

WHAT? how do you dare to say what Rowling wants or not? she said Dan is perfect for the role.
And you are showing your ignorace saying "just stick to acting". Real actors do reseach about their character and emmotions before jumping to act.

And - before someone feels offended - no offense meant. I'm waiting for news as impatient as anyone else, but I don't want to jump for joy because I read something new in the forums and have to discover later that it was a fake.
But let's drop this subject: I'd like to know if any other of the young actors is preparing as intensely for his/her part as Dan...

Coolio. It's nice that he tries to understand Potter. He is very emotional in this book, or willl be in this film. Cho gets missed up and Harry grows colder and colder, such tragic..

My mother died suddenly when I was 13. She had a brain anurysm in her sleep. Like Harry, I never had a chance to say good bye. Unless you have experienced a loss like this, especially when it comes so unexpectedly, you can never know how it really feels. I think it's great that Dan is taking this seriously by going to a bereavement counselor. There are so many complicated emotions going on, that it would only help him more by getting as much information about grief as he can. More power to him.

The character is undergoing some serious transformation in this here OOTP, loosing his godfather, loosing the person who he thinks he can be together with. (This is the same reason I like OOTP.) And I know Dan can pull it off. He is a good actor, a great one in fact.

They really need to take that aspect seriously, and I am SO happy that they are. Dan meeting with a counselor is a great example that he's serious and wants to get to know Harry perfectly. That's what all excellent actors do. I really look forward to seeing him in OOTP, especially since OOTP is my favorite book. The filmmakers really need to get this one right. So far, so good. :)
