Gary Oldman has not yet been presented with or signed a contract to appear in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, HPANA has confirmed.
Despite a recent statement from the studio, we have learned and double-confirmed that no agreement has been made.
"At this time Gary Oldman is not set to appear in the next Potter film," manager Doug Urbanski told HPANA. "I cannot explain why the studio confirmed his appearance."
It's unlikely Oldman wouldn't reprise his role as Sirius Black in the fifth film.
Note: This does not imply he won't be in the movie, just that there's no current definitive agreement for him to appear.

I agree 100% with Sirius Girl. I thought that this was all fleshed out months ago when they were making preparations for upcoming filming and all. I don't know what to believe now.

They must still be negotiating his contract or something. I guess that's just what happens when they get well known actors to play in the films.

I hope that he oes come back for the movie, i don't like it when they keep changing the actors. I don't think that they'd cut the part because it is vital to Harry's character development.

He's such a great actor- I hope he stays. Although I think Pettigrew, Lupin, Snape, and Sirius were all cast too old. They're supposed to be in their late 30s. I always thought of Sirius as the cool young uncle, but now that they've cast everyone it would be preferable if they all stayed on.

I really hope they cast oldman again because if there was no Sirius that would just completely ruin the movie. Also if they cast someone else i don't think i could get used to it....

[/b] I think it is very important for there to be the same actors playing the characters in each film, because it creates not only a familiar sense, but also a strong story.

Really, this is getting too confusing. So, finally, is Gary Oldman going to play Sirius Black in "Order of the Phoenix"? MuggleNet says he is, WizardNews says he isn't... what's the truth? Personally, I don't want Oldman to play Sirius in OotP, it would be great if they get a new and better actor for the role.

WHAT??????
When I left for work this morning, I was very happy, pondering thoughts of the newest Harry Potter movie, very happy to have read that Lupin and Black would be back. Both are awesome actors, and no one else could even halfway fill those shoes.
And then I come home, innocently checking my favorite HP website, and here I am, sitting CRUSHED at my computer desk.
(sob! sob!)
It just won't be OotP without the real Sirius Black.
(sob! sob!)
Gary Oldman- you have to sign! We love you!
I'll remain hopefull, afterall it's never over until the Fat Lady in the Portrait sings! (and sings badly!)
