Gary Oldman has not yet been presented with or signed a contract to appear in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, HPANA has confirmed.
Despite a recent statement from the studio, we have learned and double-confirmed that no agreement has been made.
"At this time Gary Oldman is not set to appear in the next Potter film," manager Doug Urbanski told HPANA. "I cannot explain why the studio confirmed his appearance."
It's unlikely Oldman wouldn't reprise his role as Sirius Black in the fifth film.
Note: This does not imply he won't be in the movie, just that there's no current definitive agreement for him to appear.

That's crazy, they'd better figure it out soon, I mean goodness, the whole movie really settles around him and Harry and their growing relationship!! Plus not to mention the end result of the book that really bites!! He'd better be in the film or there'd be no point in making it!

They'd better just sign him up already, I mean it would be really bad if a new Sirius was introduced just to up and leave at the end of this film anyways. I think some non-HP fans may be a bit confused. Hope we hear Gary's confirmation soon!

Wait... what? I thought he was coming back according to the WB. No one else can play him, but Gary! If he doesn't reprise his role i'm gonna be pissed. I mean why would you take a role when you know the charater is gonna be in the next book/movie. Its just like Miranda Richardson, shes not coming back even though she knew the charater was in the next book. That makes me so mad when they do that!!

That is so awesome I couldn't imagine another actor playing Sirius Black even though he has only been in 2 of the 4 movies.

I'd actually be cool with that Goldman guy not returning. No offense to him, but he's just not what I imagined Sirius to look like anyways. They should try and get Johnny Depp to play him, that would be sweet.

He has to be in it, he has a very important role to play in the fifth book. I'm sure that he will be in it so I'm not going to worry about.

What's going on? This is so confusing! I wonder why they are being so wishy washy... I wonder if Gary is holding out for a fatter pay check? Well, he has perfected Sirius Black... come on Gary, do it again!

Ah why all this confusion? I never like Oldman in that role and would be happy if he is replaced by someone better suited for the role as Sirius

I hate when they do this, frankly. WB should have all the agreements signed before they start to film, because the most important thing in a movie are the actors. Specially when it comes to a main character such as Sirius or Lupin. They can't cut them off the movie, so what will they do? Have a new actor to play the role? That is absurd and everybody would complain.
I don't really understand this, not having signed with Gary Oldman yet seems to me plainly outrageous and ridikkulus.

What!? I hope Gary Oldman will sign! The fifth film without him won't be a good movie. An other actor for Sirius Black - no chance! Gary Oldman is the best actor for Sirius Black!

Well - what are we to believe?? Warner Brothers or Gary's agent. Normally WB don't confirm anything without having it in writing. Is Gary or his agent angling for more money? Personally I don't care - he has to be in the film or the whole project is a mockery. Pay him, sign him, and lets get on with it!!!

How can he not be coming back - he's important - without him Grimmauld Place would be pointless and so would going to the ministry! There would be no story!!!!

No, no, no... He HAS to be in it. He has to be Sirius. I don't think that any other actor could do the part at all because Gary Oldman is a genius and was absolutely brilliant. I really, really hope that he decides to sign on for the fifth movie. I think that...I know that it won't be the same with out him in it...
