No 'Sirius' deal yet, says Oldman's manager

Gary Oldman has not yet been presented with or signed a contract to appear in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, HPANA has confirmed.
Despite a recent statement from the studio, we have learned and double-confirmed that no agreement has been made.
"At this time Gary Oldman is not set to appear in the next Potter film," manager Doug Urbanski told HPANA. "I cannot explain why the studio confirmed his appearance."
It's unlikely Oldman wouldn't reprise his role as Sirius Black in the fifth film.
Note: This does not imply he won't be in the movie, just that there's no current definitive agreement for him to appear.

I don't think there's a real reason to start being frantic about whether Gary will reprise his role as Sirius or not. It's probably just a misunderstanding. I think it'll probably only be a matter of time until we hear (for sure this time) that Gary will be Sirius in OotP. So no need to panic people...

I'm sure it's just a matter of the contract being presented to him and he would sign it. I really don't think he has any intention of not doing it. It's really a "bit" part compared to his normal acting roles.

I hope that he would sign the contract. I mean it is the last book he would be in so he really wouldn't be tied to the part. If he doesn't do it for any other reason, he at least needs to do it for the kids. It's not like he doesn't have money and he would probably get to be the most popular dad at his kids school.

I think that this sort of thing always seems to happen because the media is working much faster than the actual events. It almost makes it sound like Mr. Oldman is "shocked" to hear that the studio confirmed it. I think a few people just aren't that far into the process yet. :)

Let's hope he does sign on. They cannot cut Sirius, it would be cutting a major part out of the movie if they do. I think Oldman was really good as Sirius in PoA, and I am a big fan of his anyway, it will be excellent if he could rejoin the cast again. I have my fingers crossed for him to sign on! I don't see a reason why he shouldn't? He's not doing anything else at the moment is he?

I'm glad to hear that Mr. Oldman will most likely be returning- how could they possibly do OotP without Sirius? I hate it when tv shows and movies replace an important actor/actress with another one and expect the audience to just go along with the switch. It's one thing to replace one fat lady with another, but Sirius? No way!
