Gary Oldman has not yet been presented with or signed a contract to appear in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, HPANA has confirmed.
Despite a recent statement from the studio, we have learned and double-confirmed that no agreement has been made.
"At this time Gary Oldman is not set to appear in the next Potter film," manager Doug Urbanski told HPANA. "I cannot explain why the studio confirmed his appearance."
It's unlikely Oldman wouldn't reprise his role as Sirius Black in the fifth film.
Note: This does not imply he won't be in the movie, just that there's no current definitive agreement for him to appear.

Yeah, he IS Sirius. Isn't it a bit late in the day for people to be humming and hahing about whether or not they're gonna be in the film? In short, Gary Oldman needs to be aboard.

He really ought to come back. The actors should be consistant in all the movies, it'll make them better if everyone is the same.

They better bring back Gary Oldman!! I am going to be so angry if they don't bring him back. I love him as Sirius and they'd be morons to not bring him back. I swear if they do another thing like that mess with Michael Gambon... >:(

I wonder if this is studio and actor politics. I think that actor's agents have to negotiate the salaries for each movie.
It would be really disappointing not to have Sirius in the movie. If they just have the Dog-Sirius, they would still need Gary Oldman's voice!

Probably there was a casual verbal agreement which made the producers feel like they could announce it, being that a verbal agreement is legally binding in our country. Look it up. But Oldman probably had a condition which he wants down on paper next to his name. A certain pay amount or only green m&ms in his trailor or something. Haha, maybe not. Bt I wouldn't be surprised...

I sure do hope to see Mr, Oldman return. He is the face of Sirius Black. His role is vital in this next film. It really changes the films quality if the actors change. Still to this day the new Dumbledore dosen't suit my taste. When I read the Harry Potter Books, Richard Harris is the Dumbledore that I picture, not Michael Gambon. It's not that I don't like Mr, Gambon, but Harris was much more like I imagined Dumbledore before seeing the movies. I know they had to have someone knew in the other films to play Dumbledore, but it's not the case now. I hope Oldman will see how beloved he is as Sirius and that Warner Bros, will as well and allow him to reprise his role.
As I said before, it just isn't the same when the characters change. The focus tends to be on how much different the new character is than the old, for the movies that is, than how great the movie is. I took a look at the statistics for Prisoner of Azkaban vs the other Potter films, the records show there was a decrease in attendance for PofA, this is when Gambon began playing Dumbledore. I truly believe when the characters change from one actor to another it hurts the films.
I respect whatever decisions the studios & actors make, but I don't always have to agree. Here's hoping that Oldman returns. He is so very vital to the story this time, without him 13 Grimauld Place is just not gonna be so great!

They can't replace Gary! You could never have Sirius without him, he's so perfect for the role, he looks exactly as I pictured him. And Sirius has a big part in OoTP, he has to be in it :(.

I wonder if Remus will be back for sure. Watch HIS agent un-confirm it too. That'd be terrible.
