Reports online are stating that at last night's Book Aid International auction, the Black Family Tree that Harry Potter author JK Rowling sketched and donated
was bought
on behalf of Daniel Radcliffe for £30,000 ($52,219).
Daniel also successfully bid on handwritten works by writers Iain Banks and Tom Stoppard.
Daniel's mother, Marcia Gresham, bid on his behalf at the auction & had this to say about Daniel and his reading:
This should put paid to anyone who says that Daniel doesn't like reading. Daniel hasn't stopped since he read the first Harry Potter book and he loves Iain Banks and Tom Stoppard.

wow, wouldn't it be awesome if he posted the tree on his site?? But then again, JK would speak to him and tell him not too and he would listen to her. I bet you he will put it on his site, but after the last book comes out!!

It seems like a publicity stunt for the Harry Potter actor to buy a something auctioned by the author of the series he portrays. I could be wrong, but that's just the impression i took from this article. Nonetheless, it's cool that she put all that info together.

Man, and I was hoping whoever bought it would put it on the internet. I'll bet he won't, though. He seems to honest to go against JKR, and it would probably jeopardize his job. *sigh* I was getting so excited, too.

I am glad that Dan bought it. You never know we might just get a chance to see it in full now. You would think that Dan would know that all of us Potter fans would have a interest in this item.

Who doubted that Daniel didn't like to read? I think that Dan is really smart and can do anything he puts his mind too. He seems like such a down to earth person. I would love to meet him.

That's great! I'd rather have Dan buy it than some rich person we've never heard of-- he's pracically entitled to it! I mean, he does play Sirius's godson!

Ainhoa says:
Yeah there was comments about not only Dan not liking to read, but whats more, of him being a poor student. The rumors were so bad. And now they don't say anything because not only did he get all his GCSE Courses, but he is even continuing on in school, the only male in the Potter cast I know to have done so...
But anyway I think what her mother is trying to expalin is why Dan purchased the items he did, and the answer is because he loves reading and those are great books. If you have read his newsletters you obviouly know he loves reading and he reads a lot.

Whoa...
Who would've guessed? DANIEL bought the tree? That's kinda shocking, and a LITTLE hard to grasp. I wish I could've gotten it, but I know that there's no way that I could have even begun to afford it! Maybe he can bid for stuff like this now that he's the richest teenager or some crap like that in the UK.
