Reports online are stating that at last night's Book Aid International auction, the Black Family Tree that Harry Potter author JK Rowling sketched and donated
was bought
on behalf of Daniel Radcliffe for £30,000 ($52,219).
Daniel also successfully bid on handwritten works by writers Iain Banks and Tom Stoppard.
Daniel's mother, Marcia Gresham, bid on his behalf at the auction & had this to say about Daniel and his reading:
This should put paid to anyone who says that Daniel doesn't like reading. Daniel hasn't stopped since he read the first Harry Potter book and he loves Iain Banks and Tom Stoppard.

That is good. The more money people bid on, the more will go to the charity. Also who did actually say that Daniel Radcliffe didn't like to read? I don't remember anyone saying that.

At least someone responsible and cares for it bought it, I thought some rich snobby collector was going to outbid everyone.

That was so generous of Dan to buy the Black's family tree....If you have the money, then go for it! I'm glad Dan was sweet enough to purchase it, but then again, he supports such important events. He deserves out full respect!

That is some kind of souvenir he has now after starring in the films! Of course he bid on other things too! I think it's a testimony for good books. If you don't enjoy reading, but you find a great book that interests you, one could become an avid reader!!

Who doubted that Radcliffe liked to read? At least this is some sort of confirmation that Radcliffe likes the Harry Potter series. Hmmm ... I wonder if he will publish a photograph or a complete scanned version of the Black Family Tree on his website.

Nothing to comment really, as I even don't know who Iain Banks and Tom Stoppard are.

That is so cool. He is so sweet!! Anyone who does something that nice for charities deserves to be totally rich. But it is also sort of sill because he will get to see the real live version of it when they begin to film the scenes at Number 12 Grimmauld Place for the OoTP!!

Who the heck would ever think that Dan doesn't like to read? That is like so ridiculous. But I am shocked that Dan's mom bought the family tree. It would be very interesting what he'll do with. Maybe like plaster it in his home or something like that.

It's great that he bought something Jo donated to a charity auction. Kind of like Dan and Jo are teaming up together. I don't know who said Daniel didn't like to read. It is obvious that they don't know him very well.

Holy Cow!!! I would have never expected Dan to win the Black Family Tree ever. That's a lot too!! $52,219 dollars. Wow!!! Congradulations Dan. That was very nice of your mom to do for you while you are gone and filming Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I have to say, he is so lucky to have a mom this nice, and to think of you too!!!
