Reports online are stating that at last night's Book Aid International auction, the Black Family Tree that Harry Potter author JK Rowling sketched and donated
was bought
on behalf of Daniel Radcliffe for £30,000 ($52,219).
Daniel also successfully bid on handwritten works by writers Iain Banks and Tom Stoppard.
Daniel's mother, Marcia Gresham, bid on his behalf at the auction & had this to say about Daniel and his reading:
This should put paid to anyone who says that Daniel doesn't like reading. Daniel hasn't stopped since he read the first Harry Potter book and he loves Iain Banks and Tom Stoppard.

It would be so nice to be able to buy books for thousands of dollars. i wonder who thought Daniel didnt like to read? every year Daniel sends a fan letter talking about himself and what he's into. Every letter includes new books he's read and loved. People shouldn't spread rumors.

wow Do you think donating 30000 is selfish?
So would you prefer if he had not "bought" those books and then BAI would have not raised so much money?
He is not "buying", he is donating, he wouldn't buy them if this wasn't a charity auction, we know Dan doesn't waste his money, he has work since he was a kid to earn it.
And we know he loves reading because we have read his interviews, he is always very passionate when he talks about books. His father was a publisher so I think Dan is very influenced by that, which is great.

What better way to combine Memories with Investments. This is an opertunity to grow and share these years that will help him grow into the Man and Actor he will become. Harry is destined for greatness.... So is Danial in his way I am sure. His acting is not only powerful but also on the mark as seen in my mind as I read.

It shows that he appreciates being in the movies and isn't one of those actors that resents the thing that made them famous. Good for him!
