Reports online are stating that at last night's Book Aid International auction, the Black Family Tree that Harry Potter author JK Rowling sketched and donated
was bought
on behalf of Daniel Radcliffe for £30,000 ($52,219).
Daniel also successfully bid on handwritten works by writers Iain Banks and Tom Stoppard.
Daniel's mother, Marcia Gresham, bid on his behalf at the auction & had this to say about Daniel and his reading:
This should put paid to anyone who says that Daniel doesn't like reading. Daniel hasn't stopped since he read the first Harry Potter book and he loves Iain Banks and Tom Stoppard.

I just wanted to know if any of you actually just find actors fascinating for waht they do, rather than what they look like. I've always wanted to meet the HP cast, but not because of like a crush or anything. This is the kind of thing Iwould want to talk about just because knowing what they all do with their money and time and stuff, is just cool. Who doubted that he liked to read? I mean come on...

I think that's pretty awesome that Radcliffe bought the 'Black Family Tree.' Sure would be an amazing thing to if you're a Harry Potter fan. Too bad $50,000 is a little out of my price range!

Yea that is cool, it sounds like something our dan would do, i'm so pleased for him, i personally hope he keeps it and frames it, to show him whats got him where he is today, not that i'm saying its mainly harry potter thats made him a star, i personally feel that it was his role in david copperfeild that swung it for him, he was awesome in that, and some of the scenes in that film made me cry real tears, he portrays sadness really well, i love him as an actor an a person, even though i don't know him as a person(i wish i did, though)just the things ive read about him, even though i don't believe some of the rumors that have been spread about him, he is one of the most kindhearted people i have had to pleasure of watching on screen, and my one wish is that i get to meet him one day, even though that is highly unlikely
