While touring the UK's theatre stages, Christian Coulson
from the Chamber of Secrets movie recently gave an interview with BBC Norfolk. The actor who portrayed Tom Riddle on the screen fondly reminisces about his experiences auditioning and filming for the 2nd Harry Potter movie. Here are some excerpts from the interview:
"I hadn't read the books until I auditioned. The auditions took six months. They saw about a thousand people, but in the end they got down to three and then they camera tested me and that was it. By the time the call came it had been going on for so long it was a relief."
When Christian got that all important phone call to say he'd landed the part, it was all very exciting. "The first film wasn't out, but obviously it was starting to build as an idea. Of course it was exciting, the part really chimed with me when I read the book and I felt very strongly there were some things I could bring to it".
Additionally, Christian expressed hopes to make a return for Half-Blood Prince:
"I'd love to do it again," said Christian.
"When a friend rang to tell me to read the sixth book because [Tom Riddle] was in it again it was exciting - but who knows," he added.

I loved him in CoS and I'd love to see him back, especially if they are making the part where Tom Riddle has longer back brushed hair, looking very handsome in black clothes. I think Christian Coulson would really look good in that part.

I hope that they hire him for it again. It would be consistent and, though he's far older than the part, makeup can do wonders and he can slightly alter his voice. Bring him back, WB, and think of all that time you'll save when you don't have to see 2000 people for the part.

That sounds sweet! I never thought of that. I really enjoyed his performance in Chamber of Secrets. He's a perfect Tom Riddle, which I think many of us already know. Hopefully there will be a part for him in Half-blood Prince, because I'd really like to see Tom Riddle back in action; back in action in a way we've not yet seen on the big screen thus far; Tom Riddle as terrible as he can truly be, and I'm sure Coulson's the only one for the job.

It would be interesting to see him reprise his role as Tom Riddle. I guess we'll have to wait and see if he actually does, I mean he's older now, so he might be able to play the older tom riddle that what's her name was in love with.

He was someone I did not expect would play the part of Tom Riddle when I had first read the book. But seeing him act in the Chamber of Secrets it really made sense why he was chosen.
i do hope they write him into the script of the sixth movie.

He was really good in Chamber of Secrets, but since he is supposed to be only one year older than he was in that film in HBP, he might be a bit old for it. It probably wont go in to production until 2007 or so.

I am sure he will get the part in the sixth edition because he impressed everybody in the Chamber of Secrets but he will have to wait for HBP to be made atleast another six mts. to a year.

Ohh, I'm so glad to see this! I absolutely loved Christian Coulson in COS, he brought a lot to the role of Tom Riddle. When HBP came out, from the first time I read it I was TOTALLY picturing him in all of the flashbacks of Tom as a young man. I know they'll have to have a kid to play the earliest scenes, but the later ones of Tom at Hogwarts, just after graduation, and finally when he's older -- for those bits I will be terribly disappointed if they don't ask Christian back to reprise his role for movie #6. He makes SUCH a great villain!

Interesting! At first I didn't know who this was at first but now I know and remember who it is. I haven't heard much of him in a while since I saw Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I haven't heard of him before until now. Stunning because it has been how long since he has been on the big screen. Amazing!! Just Amazing!!!:)

aw I loved him as Tom Riddle and I really hope he comes back! I was re-re-re(times about 6 haha) reading HBP last weekend and I just kept picturing him in the role... I really hope they use him... it would be good continuity. :D
