While touring the UK's theatre stages, Christian Coulson
from the Chamber of Secrets movie recently gave an interview with BBC Norfolk. The actor who portrayed Tom Riddle on the screen fondly reminisces about his experiences auditioning and filming for the 2nd Harry Potter movie. Here are some excerpts from the interview
:
"I hadn't read the books until I auditioned. The auditions took six months. They saw about a thousand people, but in the end they got down to three and then they camera tested me and that was it. By the time the call came it had been going on for so long it was a relief."
When Christian got that all important phone call to say he'd landed the part, it was all very exciting. "The first film wasn't out, but obviously it was starting to build as an idea. Of course it was exciting, the part really chimed with me when I read the book and I felt very strongly there were some things I could bring to it".
Additionally, Christian expressed hopes to make a return for Half-Blood Prince:
"I'd love to do it again," said Christian.
"When a friend rang to tell me to read the sixth book because [Tom Riddle] was in it again it was exciting - but who knows," he added.
Make sure to visit BBC Norfolk

Thanks to Martin for the heads up!

"The auditions took six months." - Wow, that's a long process!
"When a friend rang to tell me to read the sixth book because [Tom Riddle] was in it again it was exciting - but who knows," - He hadn't read the book before his friend ring him? Evidently he's not a big fan.

I hope the director puts the Tom Riddle in the sixth book, the majority of the book was about Tom's past anyway, it would be a shame to leave it out. Hopefully Christian will play the part again, I loved him in the Chamber of Secrets. ^,^

I don't think it would be right if he didn't return as Tom Riddle. He was brilliant and quite terryfing as the young Voldemort. I think he will come back seeing as he's kinda vital for the 6th movie and i wander what it's like working with Daniel Radcliffe. LOVE YOU DAN!

I do hope he returns...its almost as bad as replacing as one of the leads. He is the face of Tom Riddle (not a bad looking face at that), it'd be criminal.
Then there is the opportunity to show his skill, and bring the character to life.

You know what's reallly weird? It's rather ironic that the actor's name is Christian, and he plays the most evil being, like, ever. Ahahha, well, it worked out - it was good seeing him act - he's great! I hope he does come back for the sixth movie.

It was a very intresting interview. And I wonder when they make the 6th movie, will they ask him to come back. I mean don't get me wrong, he was fantastic as Tom Riddle in the 2nd book, but I think he has gotten too old, and he doesn't look like he could be 18. With that, I hope they don't ever do a Darson's Creek, which won't give then any cridability. If he is back, then I hope he would to part justice, but if he is not, then I hope they find someone else who can do the part just as good, if not better.
