Rowling to read at Queen's birthday Popular (5190)

MARCH 5, 2006 at 9:55 AM

Posted by GERI
Source: Sunday Times

Last month we told youopens in new window that JK Rowling would help Queen Elizabeth celebrate her 80th birthday on June 25th. It is now being reportedopens in new window that Ms. Rowling will be reading from "her next Harry Potter book," this is not true as Ms. Rowling has never read from a book before it was published in any arena.

For the celebrations Windsor Castle will be turned into a theme park with a Winnie the Pooh’s Hundred Acre Wood; Peter Pan will duel with Captain Hook aboard a pirate ship on a lake; a Mary Poppins musical and the Royal Ballet performs in Beatrix Potter costumes. The event will also be broadcast on BBC, please check your local listings.

The article also states that Dan Radcliffe will be attendance, please note that this has not been confirmed & is highly unlikely due to his exam schedule.

UPDATE: As I stated earlier, the above mentioned book will not be book 7 as TLCopens in new window has confirmed that Jo still has not decided which book she will be reading from at the event.

I won't believe it unless it is confirmed. For one thing, this early into her writing it she would have no idea what the final product would be so there'd be no garauntee what she reads will resemble anything that actually gets published. Plus I don't see her really wanting to reveal anything this early. Not to mention her publishers would probably have a fit if she did read from whatever she does have.

On the absolutely small, outside chance she does read from something I'll probably down right refuse to try to find out what she read because I don't want to torture myself this long before it's published.

I don't think that J.K Rowling will read from the 7th book because shes never read from a book that hasen't been published yet. I hope that she reads from the book but it would definitely spoil the surprise. Shes not that far into the book yet is she?

Even though I really don't think she'll read from book seven if she does I don't want to know what it says. I want to read it after it's complete. I don't want any spoilers. However if she reads something it will probably be from HBP.

That would be cool, but it doesn't seem likely that Ms. Rowling would read from book 7, but then again it is the Queen's 80th birthday, which is a very special day.

Isn't this the same thing that we all thought Jim Dale was going to read from HBP on the Today Show several weeks before it was released but he ended up doing OotP? I severly doubt we're going to hear anything from B7 until at least next Christmas, if not longer.

Is she really gunna read from the 7th book? I dont quite believe it. If she does it'll be a bit where nothing particular happens. It must be cus when people talk to her she's never willing to spill about any of it and she wouldn't then go and blurt it out to hundreds of people.
Thats what i think.

I wonder if she really will read it though, it would be so awesome if she did. Anyways, if she did indeed did it, then..then..well, then the Queen is one lucky Queen.
