John Williams, Harry Potter alumni composer, has been voted 'Film Composer of the Year' for 2005 by the International Film Music Critics Association.
Mr. Williams' Memoirs of a Geisha won
the 'Best Original Motion Picture Score' as well as 'Best Score' for the year. He wrote four scores released in 2005, Memoirs of a Geisha, Munich, Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and War of the Worlds all of which were nominated to the Film Music Critics Awards in different categories.
Since Mr. Williams was rather busy last year, Patrick Doyle was called in to compose the music for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire which went on to win the 'Sci-Fi/Fantasy' award from the International Film Music Critics Association.
Congratulations to both.

Yeah, nice to see both HP composers getting awarded for their work. I would like to see Williams come back for OOTP, but that's probably not going to happen...

John Williams is my favorite composer ever! I love his music!! He did so good in Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Catch Me If You Can. I was watching the beginning of Catch Me If You Can, and I heard a little bit of Harry Potter. I love when the composers do that! They'll put bits and pieces from their other works into everyone, so that way you know who did it! Oh, and good job Patrick Doyle!

Listning to buckbeaks flight as i type this actualy, always makes me emotional and i have no idea why *laughs* trait of a great composer :) At first i was dissapointed he wasnt going to be in GOF due to other commitments, but i LOVED the GOF sound track, so a big hands up to Patrick Doyle for winning an award also :) Hope they win many more.

Congratulations to Williams. The score is, (In most Movies)as important (And in some cases) MORE important then the story line itself. The Orcastra can bring joy or tears just by a simple note or melody. With POWER like that its MAGIC we can all appreciate.

So does that mean he'll be back for OotP? I like his music better than Doyle, though they're both very good. Any word on the next one yet, or will they go with someone entirely new?
