Warner Home Video announced
earlier this evening that approximately 5 million copies of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire were sold in North America on the first day. Business is expected to continue through the Spring making the film's franchise one of the best selling DVD franchises in history.
Ron Sanders, President, Warner Home Video said:
We knew fans really connected with this installment in the Harry Potter series, and that continued loyalty to the franchise has carried over to these phenomenal DVD sales figures.

That's brilliant espechially when you consider the fact it hasn't been relased everywhere yet. I'll be getting mine at 9 am 20th March on the dot! Harry Potter always seems to break records. Wonder how many copeis world wide it will sell?

I haven't gotten mine yet. I ordered from Amazon, it should be coming in a few days. I only saw it once in the theater so it will be nice to see it again along with all the extras.

I wanted to wait at Walmart until midnight hoping they would put it on the shelves but decided against it because it would seem a bit odd. If the seventh book was being released I would be waiting though, that's for sure.

5 million copies already!!! Thats loads! It might be a new record. But as there are so many HP fans and the film is wicked i 'spose it's not that surprising.
I've not got my copy because its not yet out in the UK. Millions more copies will be sold when it comes out in more countries. Can't wait for mine!!! I'm gunna buy the 2-disk edition when it's released here so i can see all the extra features.
