Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has won the Book of the Year
award at this year's British Book Awards
, which was held in London this evening.
Ms. Rowling was in attendance and said:
I'm delighted that Harry Potter continues to give so much pleasure to adults and children, and I'm honoured to receive this award. I am enjoying writing the last book in the series and it's coming along nicely.

Very cool. : ) It definitely deserved to win. I didn't like it excessively much the first time I read it, but it grew on me the more I read it. Of course even if I hadn't liked it as much I think that it should have deserved to win with how it was generally well liked otherwise.

Coming along nicely... that sounds good - I hope she doesn't shock and scare us all with that last book. She has the entire world behind her in this one (well practically) and she can do stuff, sorta. I can't wait for it - I hope Harry wins the last battle.

Well I've never heard of any of the other books that Half Blood Prince was up against but it's great that JKR's book has won! Go JKR and Harry Potter! I mean it's a great book and although I really don't like the ending very much, it doesn't lose it's appeal at all. And I think it's fantastic that someone has been able to write a book that has captured not only the attention and imagination of children, but the attention and imagination of adults as well. And it's not only the young adults who are enjoying this series but also the older generation which is something that is rare I think. It's something that people all over the age spectrum can enjoy and it's something that can be discussed regardless of the age of the person.
