Harry Potter actors Julie Walters
and Rupert Grint’s
film Driving Lessons
will be one of the many movies showed at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The festival runs from April 5th through May 7th and will showcase over 250 movies from around the world.
The synopsis of the film reads:
Ben (Rupert Grint) is a shy teenager living in London and trying to escape from the clutches of his religious mother (Laura Linney). He finally gets his chance when he meets a retired actress who whisks him off to Edinburgh, where he learns to drive, dance, and pick up girls. Brock's loosely autobiographical coming-of-age tale is a heartwarming treat.
The movie will be showing on April 30th, May 1st and May 6th, with tickets costing $12 each. Please go here
to book your tickets or to read additional information about the festival.
Thanks to Natalie for the news.
Also, thanks to Michelle for letting us know that Alan Rickman's film Snowcake
will also be shown at the festival on May 4th and 7th.

Well, I'd go. Only problem is I live in Melbourne, which is beyond the black stump when it comes to New York. Plus, I got school. Oh well. I bet the movie will be out in Australia before long - before too long anyway.

That is so cool. But I don't think I'll be able to travel to New York to see the movie. The ticket is also pricy. I guess I'll just have to wait to see if it released here.
I wish that I could see Alan Rickamn's film. It sounds like it would be nice to see. I wish that I could see both films. But, I know I can't.

Yup, this movie is going to the Cannes!
When Rupert said that he wanted to play a role that is very very different from Ron, I never thought it would be one where he has his first ever screen kiss, lose his virginity onscreen, and we see him really swear a lot for the first time!

Well, hopefully it will do well and maybe be released in other parts of the country that showcase indie films--they usually have more of a market for the films made out of the US. I would love to see it!

$12 a ticket isn't bad for an indy festival, guys. Don't judge if you don't know what you're talking about. The festivals promote a whole different atmosphere and they're wicked fun. Also, indy movies don't make money anywhere else, so that's why the tickets cost more. The actors and producers and directors and everybody make less money off the movie. Hopefully the movie will be coming out on DVD? We'll see.
