Harry Potter actors Julie Walters
and Rupert Grint’s
film Driving Lessons
will be one of the many movies showed at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The festival runs from April 5th through May 7th and will showcase over 250 movies from around the world.
The synopsis of the film reads:
Ben (Rupert Grint) is a shy teenager living in London and trying to escape from the clutches of his religious mother (Laura Linney). He finally gets his chance when he meets a retired actress who whisks him off to Edinburgh, where he learns to drive, dance, and pick up girls. Brock's loosely autobiographical coming-of-age tale is a heartwarming treat.
The movie will be showing on April 30th, May 1st and May 6th, with tickets costing $12 each. Please go here
to book your tickets or to read additional information about the festival.
Thanks to Natalie for the news.
Also, thanks to Michelle for letting us know that Alan Rickman's film Snowcake
will also be shown at the festival on May 4th and 7th.

I've been to the Tribeca Film Fest in the past, and it's pretty well-respected so I hope Driving Lessons does well. I'm just afraid that it will remain a little independent film and won't make it to the US in wide release or on DVD. I just wish I could make it to NYC this year...grrrr....

Huh. That would be an interesting movie. Although I think that I've read a story or watched a movie that is kind of something like that. Anyway, I'm sure the movie will be amazing. Another movie for the Rupert fans to watch.

Wow, the potter actors are doing great. Watching Rupert and Daniel in outside films will be very interesting , and it must be good for their careers.

12 dollars a ticket? That isn't a lot. I want to see it so bad, and going to the film festival is the only way that anyone can in the US. They aren't even going to show it in the cinema's in the US. I hope I can get the DVD, I am definatley going to get that if I can. Rupert sounds brilliant in the movie. His acting has greatly improved from the first Harry Potter movie, he is amazing.

Oooo it's good to know Rupert is out there doing other films other than HP, he is obviously the most talented actor out of the 3, he doesn't over-act like the others do. Hope it does well for him in the future!
