Harry Potter author JK Rowling has updated her diary
today with news about how difficult it is to find paper in Edinburgh, visiting the Order of the Phoenix set and talking to the actors.
Below is an excerpt of the entry:
It was exciting to see some of the new Order of the Phoenix sets, but most of all to see the actors again - slightly unnerving to realise that nearly all of them are taller than me now (I speak, of course, of the teenagers; Michael Gambon was always taller than me, and very lovely he looked in his new robes, too.) Apart from the pleasure of seeing Tom Felton, Devon Murray, Alfred Enoch, Sitara Shah (and waving through the door at Bonnie Wright, who was busy being tutored), I had a great time talking to Dan and Matthew about books, Rupert about how his sisters never wind him up, Oliver and James about how difficult they find it to wind each other up, and Emma about Hermione's love life. Also met, and had a long chat, with Evanna Lynch (Luna), about whom there is only one possible thing to say: perfect.
The Rumours section has also been updated as well as the Extras section with a piece about the proliferation of skinny young woman in the media. Thanks to everyone who emailed us.

Glad to hear she's still writing! Yay! And I said before that Evanna looked like a perfect Luna to me, even without the makeup/costume stuff, and looks like JKR agrees! Good to know- afterall, if JK thinks Evanna is the bomb, then who are we all to disagree?
Can't wait for OotP film! And for book 7!! Aaargh!

Very nice. I love it when the site is updated this way. It really adds to the enjoyment and suspense. I wonder how visiting the set and actors might flavor her writing? So many other people associate the characters quite closely with the actors.

BRAVO JO!!!!!!! I read the article about 'skinny girls' and fear for my daughter too (8 years in May).
Thank you for providing written role-models in Hermione and Ginny for clever/spunky girls... now please don't kill them off. I love it that Ginny has her sunny-moment. Here's hoping for more! ;)

Well said in the Extras section JK, I completely agree with you. My daughter who is 10 is already saying she has fat thighs and we don't let her read those stupid magazines, but the pressure comes from other girls as well. You don't see boys getting up tight about things like that do you?
Lovely to hear she's visited the set and that all the actors are taller than her - can't wait to see how grown up the all look now!!

A small add to her website, but it's quite nice to read. I also very much like and agree with her idea about Evanna Lynch being perfect. I think she fits the role very well, too.

Jo is awesome!
Her rant in the extras section is dead-on and so well written (I died laughing when she mentioned the gust of chihuahua flatulence line!).
Her personality shines right through and her amazing writing skills solidify my respect and reverrence for her as my favourite author (not that it was ever in jeopardy!)
