Tony Maudsley
has been cast for the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film, according to The Leaky Cauldron. Representatives for the actor have confirmed
that he will be portraying the character Grawp, Hagrid's half-brother, the site reported today.
Mr. Maudsley has had several roles in television and film, most notably in Vanity Fair (with Reese Witherspoon) and Sleepy Hollow (with Johnny Depp).
[Editor's Note: Previous reports have led us to believe that the giant would be completely computer-generated -- producer David Heyman first said so during the Goblet of Fire world premiere
and he supported this claim during at the Empire Awards. Thus, it's likely Mr. Maudsley may be the voice (or movement) actor for the character.]

Interesting, I was kind of under the impression too that he would most likely have to be a cgi character when I read the books but it should be interesting to see a person play the role whether he is in cotum or is like Andy Circus was for Gollum in the Lord of the Rings movies.

Oh wow! I was so sure that they'd be doing Grawp with special effects... I can't wait to see how they're going to pull off a 16-foot version of this actor that doesn't make him look like he's on stilts!

I am so excited to see how they portray Grawp.. He lends so much sadness to this book but at the same time such hilarity and incredulity.
I don't really mind if he's only a computer rendering as long as they do it well.. I have utmost faith in the CG guys haha :D

I think Grawp looks great for the role its just that i dont know how they will do it because in the forth movie they didnt talk a lot about hargid being a half giant. THere were just subtle hints with madame maxime.
Well, he looks great and they will probably use a computer on some parts. I agree with Horcrux_10 i think that he should be more trollish too. But, maybe with hair and make-up he will look different???? I donk know what do you gys think?

In that picture he looks as dumb/simple as Grawp is, but I wonder how they're going to blow him up to look giant size without making him look distorted, if in fact they are going to use him, and not just his voice.

I assume he'll just be the voice.
I can't imagine them being able to make an actual human look the part. I mean, he's supposed to make Hagrid and Madame Maxine look small and petite.
