In an odd column complaining about football commentary in the UK, the author asks the question "Is quidditch the worst fake sport ever?"
While watching the latest Harry Potter movie, the author questions the rules of the game; its popularity in the wizarding world and sportsmanship.
The author equates
quidditch to basketball and the worthlessness of the game:
Running simultaneously are: a version of basketball, where players are required to punt a ball called a quaffle through various hoops; a perversion of the kind of bodyline swingball favoured by hyperactive 10-year-old boys, where the aim is simply to whack one of two balls called bludgers at your opponent; and the search for a tiny flying ball called the Golden Snitch, which must be captured for the game to end, and is worth an instant and wildly disproportionate 150 points.
So to clarify, I am required to keep my eye not simply on three balls at any one time, but also on a winged snitch (which is virtually invisible to anyone in the crowd anyway), the capture of which almost without exception renders the preceding however many minutes or hours entirely worthless.

For creating a sport, I think quidditch is a very well thought out game. She found a point to the game, as every sport should have, but she also added a few neat extra's into it. It must have taken quite a long time to create something as well thought out as quidditch, and I agree, it is sad that the last time we'll read of a quidditch match is in the HBP.

I think that quiddich is the best game. its great and the spectator does not need see 3 balls and a small ball which cannot be seen by the eyes. he only needs to see the quafle and when the bulger hits any person or the ball. the seeker is there to show u that the snitch can be caught as it has been described in the book. AND 150 points for the snitch coz its so difficult to catch as we have seen in the book.
the old man just wanted to critize somethink on the book so that theres something against it.

The books would be a little boring withut Quidditch(not completely!)but it adds some spice to it.OIt also takes alot of imagination to creat something like this.

Wow I can't believe that someone took the time to bash on Qudditch. But I do somewhat agree on how 150 points from the seeker can make the rest of the playing somewhat pointless. But then again look what happened in the 4th book...

I have to argue about the point where the catching the snith renders the rest of the game as useless. Remember in the Goblet of Fire where Krum caught the snitch but his team still lost the game? It's just something extra really and it's not as if catching the snitch will guarantee the team's winning!
