In an odd column complaining about football commentary in the UK, the author asks the question "Is quidditch the worst fake sport ever?"
While watching the latest Harry Potter movie, the author questions the rules of the game; its popularity in the wizarding world and sportsmanship.
The author equates
quidditch to basketball and the worthlessness of the game:
Running simultaneously are: a version of basketball, where players are required to punt a ball called a quaffle through various hoops; a perversion of the kind of bodyline swingball favoured by hyperactive 10-year-old boys, where the aim is simply to whack one of two balls called bludgers at your opponent; and the search for a tiny flying ball called the Golden Snitch, which must be captured for the game to end, and is worth an instant and wildly disproportionate 150 points.
So to clarify, I am required to keep my eye not simply on three balls at any one time, but also on a winged snitch (which is virtually invisible to anyone in the crowd anyway), the capture of which almost without exception renders the preceding however many minutes or hours entirely worthless.

I think the sport is rather facinating. It is really neat how they are on broom sticks and they are playing a sport. If I was a wizard, I would want to play.

I'd love it if someone came up with a technological way to play Quidditch for real! There might have to be minor variations, I suppose, but it would make for one exciting game, and no mistake!

Pfft, I wonder if this author even is a Harry Potter fan, and knows that catching the snitch doesn't make the rest of the game worthless; there are other ways of earning points, like with the Quaffle. I love Quidditch, JKR was being very creative when she thought the game up!

Oh, come on. Sure, the guy is being a bit overly critical of Quidditch. But he has a point. Like Starcraft in its early days, Quidditch is a great but seriously imbalanced multiplayer game. The Snitch needs a nerf and other means of scoring points need a buff.

Who cares what some reporter says about sports. He obviously isn't a big fan of any sport. He doesn't like Football commentary, makes fun of basketball and has problems with a magical sport. Quidditch would be great entertainment. I mean, you never know how long the game will last. You could be in the stands for ages! Haha. And 150 points isn't that disproportionate if its a really long game and both teams are able to rack up high points.
