A newly discovered dinosaur species has been named 'Dracorex hogwartsia' after the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, made popular in JK Rowling's Harry Potter books.
In a special
satellite video feed on Monday, May 22, Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission paleontologist Robert Sullivan will describe the naming of the newly discovered dinosaur species.
UPDATE: You can read additional information here
as well as view a drawing of the dinosaur, thanks Amy.

Thats pretty cool I mean I know if I wrote a big book series that became one of the most popular in the world I would want a dinosaur named after it.

That is so cool! Its cool enough that they have found a new species, but for it to be named after hogwarts is excellent!!! The "Dracorex" sounds a bit like draco malfoy?

That's cool! Think about it...every time you think of dinosaurs, it leads to think of Harry Potter...or vice versa. Talk about marketing.

That's totally awesome! I used to be completely obsessed with dinosaurs. I'm over that now, but it's still pretty cool.
The first part of the name, Dracorex. I think that translates to either Devil King, or Dragon King, although I'm not sure, so correct me if you think I'm wrong. Would that be the 'Devil/Dragon King of Hogwarts'?
Perhaps it was discovered in Scotland by a HP fan? Maybe they were secretly hoping that Hogwarts really existed somewhere nearby, or thought it would be the perfect place for it if it did?
Excuse me if someone has already said all this, I don't have time to read every single comment.

Gee, I wonder how the dinosaur would have felt about his given name.
It's amazing though, Harry Potter has managed to reach back in time and leave it's mark even without the use of a time-turner.

thats really interesting but depending on what the name is, eg if it was "Peeves", i would strongly disagree on the guy who is naming it, but if it was like, "Griffindor" etc., i would be very interested

That seems almost crazy! Wow. How surprisingly odd. I guess HP will now be permanent from that dinosaur. Even if the books "die". (Which I do hope never happens)

That's so cool! Dracorex Hogwartsia. Great name.
I wonder why they named it after Hogwarts. Was it because the guy who found it really, really likes HP or maybe it was found round a site where the HP crew were filming?
