A newly discovered dinosaur species has been named 'Dracorex hogwartsia' after the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, made popular in JK Rowling's Harry Potter books.
In a special
satellite video feed on Monday, May 22, Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission paleontologist Robert Sullivan will describe the naming of the newly discovered dinosaur species.
UPDATE: You can read additional information here
as well as view a drawing of the dinosaur, thanks Amy.

How cool is that?!? I can't wait to hear the story or rather read the story on here come May 22. I wonder what prompted them to name it after Hogwarts. Did you notice they also included Draco's name in there? Pretty neat. JK should feel pretty proud of that. I wonder if they had to ask for permission from here to do so. And if they did if she got any amount of money for doing so. Just wondering. That's all.

Is this for real? It seems like something you'd find published in a cheesy tabloid somewhere. If it is true, it's pretty nifty - not every day a new animal (living or extinct) is named after a fictional place.

Ok, that's really weird, I don't get the connection other than maybe it's a species that resembles a dragon or something? I smell a hoax.

Well there were many more species of dinosaurs that we haven't found yet, there even could be dragons but to name a dinosaur species after hogwarts, well of course it sounds uwfly familiar (which it is) it might not be named after Hogwarts.

Okay...this has got to be a joke. I love Harry Potter, but why in the world would name a dinosaur something so bizarre? Don't archeologists usually name new animals with words that describe them in latin (i.e. homo sapien= modern human)
