Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movie series, lamented at a Cannes Film Festival press conference
recently that he hasn't been asked to be in the Harry Potter films.
"Every single actor over 60 in England is in the Harry Potter movies," he replied when asked if he wanted to continue doing fantasy films. "I am still smarting from the fact that Ian McKellen starred in Lord of the Rings and apparently there was no part in it for me."
Prior to the X-Men films, Stewart was best known for his role as Jean-Luc Picard in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
X-Men: The Last Stand opens in theatres this weekend.

Awwww! Thats a shame! To be honest with you, I can't imagine what role he would play. I can't think of a charater that will be good for him *thinks for a sec* Wait! What about Rufus Scrouger? Or the Prime Minister? But then he would have to wait one more film before he could have those roles? What do other people think?

I can't think of Patrick Stewart in any role of HP. But I guess he has his reasons for wanting to be there...I mean who wouldn't?

Ive woundered that myself to be fair, i always thought he would be cast in the films as other older great british actors have been and he IS a very good actor, seen him in a london play and he was FAB! Maybe the stigma of being a star trek captain have put casting people of fhim, unfair realy, he is very good and would be ace as slughorn :)

Oh man he would have made a great Dumbledore. There's just something about him.. a maturity and dignity that he always portays. I think he would have (with a bit of help from the make-up department) easliy done great justice to the role.
