Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movie series, lamented at a Cannes Film Festival press conference
recently that he hasn't been asked to be in the Harry Potter films.
"Every single actor over 60 in England is in the Harry Potter movies," he replied when asked if he wanted to continue doing fantasy films. "I am still smarting from the fact that Ian McKellen starred in Lord of the Rings and apparently there was no part in it for me."
Prior to the X-Men films, Stewart was best known for his role as Jean-Luc Picard in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
X-Men: The Last Stand opens in theatres this weekend.

I can't think of anyone! Maybe a spare Death Eater or something. The only big male part that is yet to be cast (since everthing is cast for five) is Slughorn and Stewart is too small for him.

This guy has some real ego problems if he thinks that he's so much better than everyone else that he gets every important fantasy-movie role from Gandalf to Dumbledore to any teacher at Hogwarts. If he thinks he deserves the role of Dumbledore more than Michael Gambon or Richard Harris, he must have been hit in the head too many times. I'm sorry, but this guy is just way to haughty and arrogant. I know he's a good actor, but come on!

Michael Gambon is a great actor, and I think a lot of these "fans" on this site are very fluctuating in their views of the actors. I was VERY sad when Richard Harris died. He would still be my pick for Dumbledore. He had that quiet voice that could still get your attention and he fit all my imaginings for Dumbledore. But Michael Gambon would have to be my second choice. I believe he is doing a much better job than anyone else available. And you all have to see how obnoxiously arrogant Stewart is being. He thinks he should have been Gandalf instead of Ian McKellen. He thinks he should be Dumbledore instead of Gambon. I don't care if he thinks he should be emperor of the world, I still don't like him. Being a good actor includes having a modest character. Stewart obviously doesn't have that.
Now I'm done. And I know a lot of people are going to hate me for what I've said, but I'd rather people reject me for my views than accept me for saying something I don't believe.

I don't find it to be a joke to want to be in them(the HP movies) myself.
I wish I could have understood what Ian McCallan was saying when Stewart was talking about this.
I think Patrick Stewart wants to be in a loved Franchise series or so it sounds.
