Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movie series, lamented at a Cannes Film Festival press conference
recently that he hasn't been asked to be in the Harry Potter films.
"Every single actor over 60 in England is in the Harry Potter movies," he replied when asked if he wanted to continue doing fantasy films. "I am still smarting from the fact that Ian McKellen starred in Lord of the Rings and apparently there was no part in it for me."
Prior to the X-Men films, Stewart was best known for his role as Jean-Luc Picard in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
X-Men: The Last Stand opens in theatres this weekend.
Thanks to Angie for the tip!

Patrick Stewart is a great actor; loved him in the star trek movies. Be great if he got a role in the potter films even if it was just a cameo.

Hang in there not all of the films are done.

Ah, bless him! I think he's a really fantastic actor (although I couldn't stand Star Trek), it's a shame he hasn't been offered anything in it. Actually, come to think of it, I think he could have made a good Dumbledore. He's got the right tone of voice.

He's very good at doing voices. If he could make his voice all harsh and gravelly, then (as Jenni Riddle fired my imagination), he would be great as:
Fenrir Greyback, the Werewolf!

Well, i would expect a lot of people to want to be in Harry Potter. It really is a great movie. Actually ALL of the movies have been great! So I guess that he would want to be in them, esecially for his experienced character in X-Men.

I have always admired him as an actor, as fell that he would be perfect within the cast of the HP films, I can't see him as dumbledore personally but can't decide which other character he could portray.

Oh, well. Poor him. Maybe he could play Horace Slughorn in 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'. He's certainly bald enough... he just needs to put on a bit of weight. Hmmm...

Believe it or not, I've always wondered why Patrick Stweart -- my FAVORITE actor from across the pond -- never appears in the HP movies. Look at what he's doen -- Dune, Star Trek: TNG, all the Trek movies, and now X-Men. Clearly, this great English actor is also a HUGE Fantasy/Sci-Fi fan. He'd make a PERFECT DD! (and let's get rid of Gambon)
