Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movie series, lamented at a Cannes Film Festival press conference
recently that he hasn't been asked to be in the Harry Potter films.
"Every single actor over 60 in England is in the Harry Potter movies," he replied when asked if he wanted to continue doing fantasy films. "I am still smarting from the fact that Ian McKellen starred in Lord of the Rings and apparently there was no part in it for me."
Prior to the X-Men films, Stewart was best known for his role as Jean-Luc Picard in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
X-Men: The Last Stand opens in theatres this weekend.
Thanks to Angie for the tip!

Oh, YES!!!!! Please WB, let him be DUMBLEDORE!!!!!!! Please, please, PLEASE!!!!!!
Not only he would play the part about a thousand times better than Michael Gambon, but he is also really fit for the tough action scenes from book 6!

Well everyone can't get what they want! It's simply a fact of life and I highly doubt that all the actors over 60 have parts in Harry Potter. So I have no sympathy for him right now since as I said, we can't all have what we'd want.

You know I have sometimes wondered who else was in line Potter and Patrick Steward seems like an obvious choice, he's up there with Maggie Smith in terms of Britsh Acting greats! Who could he play though? It's a tricky one...

I think it's fun that Patrick Stewart would like to be in the HP movies - but he's such a recognized actor. Wouldn't it be strange to see Captain Jean Luc Picard in wizard's robes and waiving a wand? Perhaps he should have been asked to play Voldemorte - he's already bald and with all the computerized changes to voice and appearance they used he wouldn't have been so recognizable...

Awww, Patrick Stewart would be great to have in HP! Hmm...the only people I can think of that he can play are Slughorn & the new minister of magic (canNOT remember his name for some reason...). But Stewart is a great actor & we'd be glad to have him in HP! Hopefully they'll give him something :-)

Ok, now that I had time to scan a few posts - yes, I agree, I think he would be a very good Rufus Scrimgour! He has the ability to pull that off very nicely!

Patrick Stewart would be great in a Harry Potter film. If only he wasn't so hairless he may have made a convincing Rufus or somebody else

Well, what is left for Patrick Stewart to play in Harry Potter? Fudge or Rufus Scrimgeour? Now he just has to convince the Director! It is okay with us!

he would've made a much better Dumbledore, though he's probably not old enough. he could've played Snape too but Alan Rickman's doing a great job already. he wouldn't be bad as Voldemort either i think.

You know, I wonder what Harry Potter would be like if Patrick Stewart were in the films. It would be kinda wierd. I wonder who he could play. I'm getting used to Michael Gambon as DD and outside of DD, I'm not sure who I would want him to play. Oh well, maybe he'll get asked in one of the future films. There are two left to make...
