Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movie series, lamented at a Cannes Film Festival press conference
recently that he hasn't been asked to be in the Harry Potter films.
"Every single actor over 60 in England is in the Harry Potter movies," he replied when asked if he wanted to continue doing fantasy films. "I am still smarting from the fact that Ian McKellen starred in Lord of the Rings and apparently there was no part in it for me."
Prior to the X-Men films, Stewart was best known for his role as Jean-Luc Picard in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
X-Men: The Last Stand opens in theatres this weekend.

oooh! Someone's a little bit jeaolous hehehe Patrick Stewart is a Great actor. He would have made Dumbledore fans proud if he had been offered and picked for the role after Richard Harris. But with that shaved head, he'd be perfect for Slughorn...ah, I guess only time will tell.

He he he... how funny. I thought he'd be great in Harry Potter... only problem is, for what role? He sounds a bit whiney, but I know what he means. It's like anyone who is anyone brit is in the HP movies.

I think it would be good to see him in a HP role, but it would have to be a yet unseen character.
I am strongly opposed to changing any actors for any roles as it will seriously throw the movies out of wack and stuff the continuity for me. So yes, keep the same Dumbledore. and the same every-other-character.
And to an earlier comment - I don't think he would have been a good Snape. I think Rickman makes a perfect Snape, plus Snape is supposed to be in his 30's.... Patrick Stewart looks way too old. Rickman pulls it off though (plus he has the nose for it too :P).
But back to X-men, will be seeing that tonight, and I always think of Stewart as Captain Picard as that's how I know him best. But yes, he is a brilliant actor.

I think that Patrick Stewart would make a fantastic character in the upcoming Harry Potter film. The question is what character could he play?

Well, if he did have a part in the Harry Potter movies, I'm sure that he would do an exceptionally good job. He shouldnt sweat it though. There just isn't a part for every actor in London in the Harry Potter movies- yet.

I agree that he would do well with the part of Dumbledore. I have never cared for Gambon in the role.

That's funny. He's a great actor and I'd love to see him in a part if they had one for him, but I think he's joking up to a point. And with doing the X-men movies he's not exactly been bored or lacking in money. Oh well, I don't blame him for wanting to be in LotR or HP.

I like Patrick Stewart, he has always been a good actor...I could see him as being a character such as someone like Dumbledore, but that part is already taken...oh well, perhaps he might be in the 7th movie, if he makes it know enough that he's interested in a part...

I really like Patrick Stewart. I think he would also have made a really good Dumbledore not that I have a problem with current one! Maybe down the line we see some role for him! Maybe something in 7th book.

That is so weird. I didn't know that Patrick Stewart wanted to be in a Harry Potter movie that bad. Well, he might still have a chance to be in one. There are still two more movies that have to come out.
