Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movie series, lamented at a Cannes Film Festival press conference
recently that he hasn't been asked to be in the Harry Potter films.
"Every single actor over 60 in England is in the Harry Potter movies," he replied when asked if he wanted to continue doing fantasy films. "I am still smarting from the fact that Ian McKellen starred in Lord of the Rings and apparently there was no part in it for me."
Prior to the X-Men films, Stewart was best known for his role as Jean-Luc Picard in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
X-Men: The Last Stand opens in theatres this weekend.

That is so weird. I didn't know that Patrick Stewart wanted to be in a Harry Potter movie that bad. Well, he might still have a chance to be in one. There are still two more movies that have to come out.

Yes, I think it's shocking that he hasn't been asked. While Peter O'Toole would be my first choice to play Dumbledore, Patrick Stewart would be my next choice for that role. He definitely should be in the HP movies somewhere. And either O'Toole or Stewart would be MUCH better as Dumbledore than Michael Gambon.

Mmmm he might be right... there have been sooo many actirs in these potter films... anyway I almost died when I read that Sir Ian Mckellen had rejected Albus Dumbledore's rolle, i had always thought that he might be an excellend headmaster... at least far much better than Michael Gambon... well getting back to our subject, I think that Patrick Stewart could be a good Horace Slughorn... I know he's not as fat as Sluggy but they could fix that, I think that with the right make up he'd be great!!
