Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movie series, lamented at a Cannes Film Festival press conference
recently that he hasn't been asked to be in the Harry Potter films.
"Every single actor over 60 in England is in the Harry Potter movies," he replied when asked if he wanted to continue doing fantasy films. "I am still smarting from the fact that Ian McKellen starred in Lord of the Rings and apparently there was no part in it for me."
Prior to the X-Men films, Stewart was best known for his role as Jean-Luc Picard in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
X-Men: The Last Stand opens in theatres this weekend.

I have to agree! I think someone ought to call Patrick and offer him a position - he would have made a MUCH better Crouch Sr. but I'd rather see him get a character that doesn't get killed. Maybe Luna's father? Yes, Patrick is a very dignified man but he's an incredible actor and has a good sense of humor - obviously, from the comments he made about HP.

I've always liked Patrick Stewart, since the next generation days:) I just wanted to say it's like a lot of the biggest stars, mostly british, just want to get into this great film.I mean just look at the cast... top actors allowed to adventure their way through JK's stories. And it feels like more for the pleasure of being a part of it, not just b/c of the money.

When I read book six, I immediately thought that he would be a great Slughorn. But he could also be Scrigemour as well.
