Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movie series, lamented at a Cannes Film Festival press conference
recently that he hasn't been asked to be in the Harry Potter films.
"Every single actor over 60 in England is in the Harry Potter movies," he replied when asked if he wanted to continue doing fantasy films. "I am still smarting from the fact that Ian McKellen starred in Lord of the Rings and apparently there was no part in it for me."
Prior to the X-Men films, Stewart was best known for his role as Jean-Luc Picard in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
X-Men: The Last Stand opens in theatres this weekend.

Dude, You wern't asked to be in anything cool like lord of the rings or harry potter because you're too much of a freak!!
They wanted older men who really posessed the intelligence and wisdom like personna of their characters. For whatever reason I just can't see mr. stewart fitting for any of the wise old man rolls.

agree with those who say he may make a good Dumbledore (but in my mind Richard Harris is still the best!). I also think he would have been a fair choice for Lucius, though Jason Issacs already does a great job. I think they will keep these roles as they are though.
So, he would have to play someone in the 6th or 7th movies. I can't see him as Slughorn, but with the right costume, he could make a good Rufus Scrimgeour!
