Broker bullish about book 7 Popular (7470)

Stocks of Scholastic will head north ahead of the publication of JK Rowling's to-be-named seventh book in her Harry Potter series, saysopens in new window analyst Drew Crum.

"We are compelled by the potential upside in the shares given the impending publication of 'Harry Potter' number seven, when considering the stock's history of advancing and peaking ahead of a book release," he said.

Crum researched educational publishers and found that conditions are ripe for growth, thanks to school budget increases mandated by the "No Child Left Behind" act. Scholastic is doubly special because of its status as the Potter pusher in America.

However, the New York Times last week intimatedopens in new window that books aimed at children will see quite the opposite:

...growth in children's books is expected to decline sharply in 2007, when no Harry Potter book is currently scheduled for publication.

Perhaps the success of the HP books will inspire other authors to step up to the plate and create truly wonderful literature that appeals to adults and children alike.

That's so sad it's almost funny! Harry Potter is great, don't get me wrong, but the classics are important, education wise.

Wow, I wonder how much the value of the stock will go up when book 7 comes out. Its probably going to be a drastic increase :) I mean, with so many people buying it isn't a wonder. Too bad that Scholastic might suffer with no more JKR Potter publishings.

Wow Harry Potter does have a huge impact on peoples reading, not only young children but the older generation as well. I would much rather re-read HP than pick up a new book as ever since reading HP all other books seem a disappointment. (Except maybe the Da Vinci Code but HP is still my favourite!)

OK, how can the people say that Harry Potter books arent for children? I mean, so what if they are just a little graphic, but why would they not let them be guided as a children's book?? Also, JK has said that the book will hopefully be out in 2007. Tell me how that is not a set-time that the book will be out.
