Bloomsbury publishing director Liz Calder said the next and final Harry Potter book is "likely" to be released in 2007... she hopes.
At the British Council's Creative Future
conference in India this week, Calder allegedly said as much in an interview with Indo-Asian News Service:
"One more 'Harry Potter' only but she (Rowling) said from the beginning that she would write seven. So she would not write another one after this. But Rowling would write other books for us," said Liz.
"The next 'Harry Potter' book is likely to come out in 2007. I hope so."
While Calder's comments are optimistic at best, she's one of only a handful of people other than Jo herself who could make such a weighty prediction.

Hmm... Jo will not write about Harry after book 7, but she'll write us other things... Well, I guess it's not so bad after all is it now? I mean, she'll keep us tied to her, and she know that. She'll never be forgot you know, she's amazing! I hope that whatever she decides to write after Harry is as good as Harry. I'm sure she's got something up her sleeve though, so I'll keep my hopes up.

for the book since OoTP will be out the following week.

Seems like they are trying to build some interest. She has typically delivered the last books in the later part of the year. Normally between September and December. It then takes about 6-7 months for publication. The earliest I would expect it is around Summer 2007. But I would be surprised if it is out later than fall. They would not want to mess up the Christmas season. Movies may effect the final timing.

It's sad she is not writing anymore books about Harry but she has to stop writing them or they won't be special anymore. But I hope next books that she will write will be just as good as Harry.

Well i hope so, i hated the wait for GOF, if the books released next year ill be over the moon :) I wounder what other books shell write for them, maybe guide books about HP or another story all together...hard to imagine her writing something completely different...hmm. We'll see.

*G* She probably jinxed it and now it won't be out until 2010, but here's hoping she is right. I dunno if they'll shoot for 7-7-07 with OotP tentatively scheduled to be released around the same time, but I hope so. I'm not really holding much for any books beyond that becuase I think she may actually go back to writing true children's books or something. We'll see.
