This morning the IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures announced
that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be simultaneously released to both IMAX(R) and conventional theatres on July 13, 2007.
This will be the third Harry Potter film to be converted into IMAX's format. The last movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire grossed more than $20 million in IMAX theatres worldwide.
Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures commented:
The Harry Potter series has been a huge success in IMAX theatres, and we are delighted to combine this next exciting installment with The IMAX Experience to offer Harry Potter fans another magical adventure for 2007. The IMAX theatre network is a proven source of incremental revenue that we believe will grow exponentially as more IMAX theatres continue to open around the world.
Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment added:
We are proud of our partnership with Warner Bros. and producer David Heyman, and we're excited that once again Warner Bros. Pictures will be delivering a film that lends itself perfectly to The IMAX Experience. As we explore the possibility of converting some of the picture into IMAX(R) 3D, we expect to have an even broader audience base for the release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in 2007.

And who would deny such an alliance? It would be absurd. Of course they would want to cash in on HP-it's a money maker and I can't wait to go see it in the Imax.

I am definatly planning to attend the premiere of Order in imax. If I cannot get a set of two tickets for a friend and I, I will get theater tickets for the premiere and then see the imax later. That way I will be able to see the mavie twice which is ideal.

HORRAY!! I loved imax & saw GOF twice on it. I bet they decided to do this because of the success from the last film on imax screens.

IMAX is freaking awesome. We went to an IMAX in Hong Kong all the time when I was younger. Seeing Order on IMAX would be really cool and might make me more interested in the movie.

Not really much of a surprise because of Goblet of Fire being in IMAX. I wonder if it's cooler in IMAX than a movie? I will never know unless I will be in an IMAX I guess.

I haven't gone to the other ones in IMAX, but hopefully I'll make it to this one. I only went to an IMAX show once and it was something with rollercoasters, and I almost had to walk out because I got motion sickness!

Too bad the IMAX near me refuses to show anything non-educational. I am going to have to talk to them about that. The losers.

Ummmm.... of course. Duh! Like they really wouldn't after releasing the last 2. Imax rocks! But I think the first viewing is better on a smaller screen because sometimes with IMAX, you can't look at everything on the screen all at once.

Man, I'm two hours either way from an IMAX, and I know my parents wouldn't drive me all that way. I'll just have to stand buying tickets ahead of time and seeing it the day it comes out.

That's great news, I would love to see it in IMAX format. I wasn't able to with Goblet, but this one I need to see at IMAX. Especially the scenes in the minstry and the duel between LV and DD.
