I have always thought that either Snape or Draco would die in book 7, and maybe this is the one to get the reprieve.
And I hope JK doesn't kill Harry off just for the sake of killing him and having no more sequels. That's a terrible reason to kill someone with plot.
But I will just have to sit back and wait for it to be finished....

It must be pretty tough for JKR to talk about book 7 and the end of the series without accidentally giving something away. I could never do it - my face tells you everything even when I don't say a word. She is very hard to read though...I almost want to say 7 will really be the end of Harry, based on this interview. At first I thought it'd be too hard for JKR to kill him off, even though I believe she won't write about him again. But now...I remember she is kind of a pessimistic/realistic person and I can see that she would kill Harry off for a greater good because that does happen in real life. So I'm sort of leaning that way, though it is very painful!
Anyway, thanks so, so much to everyone who made this interview available to people everywhere in the world. (By the way, based on this interview, I'll take Richard and Judy over Katie & Matt any day! They not only seemed to know the subject, but they actually let JKR talk!)

A reprieve is a pardon; a forgiveness of a crime and the penalty associated with it. Hermione can't get a reprieve because she hasn't done anything wrong. Something like that would be reserved for Snape or Draco. They each used an unforgivable curse (Avada Kadavra and Imperius, respectfully.) I believe that Draco will be the one to get the reprieve since he used the Imperius curse under thread of his life and that of his family's.
