Rowling discusses last 'Potter' book, deaths

JK Rowling appeared on the Richard & Judy Show in the UK, and had a few things to say that may interest fans.
Some highlights from the show:
- Book 7 is NOT finished but she is well into it
- The final chapter for book 7 has changed slightly - two more people have died than she originally planned and one other person has got a reprieve
- Jo first wrote the final chapter in 1990
- She has regretted writing some parts where she may have boxed herself in, earlier in the series
- Jo says Ron is generally more popular than Harry -- remembers seeing an unofficial poll on a fansite reflecting this

- She would be willing to kill Harry in order to prevent future authors from writing sequels
- She was in denial of her fame for the first three books, shocked when the press made slight reference to Potter
- Jo mentioned she is indeed wealthy, but many stats are falsely reported
- Jessica, her daughter, is often pestered at school for upcoming book titles, plot details, etc.
- Jo has written half of another children's book in her spare time
- Her boggart would be that of Mrs. Weasley's: her children dead
- She made up the rules for quidditch in 30 minutes after a fight with her ex-boyfriend

Wow... this is really the first revealing information about the final book. She's really playing mind tricks. I am sad because she acknowledges main characters will die. I guess we already knew that, but to hear it makes it more real.

Wow! What a great interview. I am sad too that the story will end. I'm really worried who the characters are that are going to die. I just hope it's not the main 3 or Ginny, Harry needs his girl.

I don't want everyone to die, and that comment that she would be willing to kill Harry in order to prevent future authors from writing sequels is just bad. Surely other authors wouldn't be desperate enough to steal ideas ...

First, I have to say I nearly lost my MIND when I heard this on the local NBC news. You should have seen me. I only caught the very end, and I was wondering what all JKR had revealed.
Second, I can't believe JKR would be so naive as to think that future authors wouldn't write sequels, spinoffs, prequels, and so on, just because she knocked off Harry. Characters are resurected all the time, by their own authors and others. Sherlock Holmes, anyone?
I've said for the longest time that the only thing JKR could achieve by kicking Harry would be to ruin the series.
Anywhoo... this "two deaths" thing is going to give those who think Harry is going down a lot of fuel. I admit, Harry & Voldy was my first thought. But I'm thinking it's maybe Harry who's gotten the reprieve.
I usually like to have a good conclusion to my posts, but I can't think of anything. My head is spinning too fast.
