Earlier this morning, Harry Potter author JK Rowling attended
a press conference ahead of her charity reading with Stephen King and John Irving. At the press conference Ms. Rowling commented that she will have to go through a bereavement process when finished writing the last book in the series.
On the one hand, I am going to feel sad. Harry's been an enormous part of my life and it's been a turbulent phase of my life and he was always the constant.
So there will be a sense of bereavement.
But there will also be a sense of liberation because there are pressures involved in writing something as popular.
Wonderful though it's been, I think that there will also be a certain freedom in escaping that particular part of writing Harry Potter.
When asked about the two deaths that she previously mentioned, Ms. Rowling said:
I guess some people will loathe it, some people will love it.
You can now see pictures here
from the event.
Meanwhile, John Irving and Stephen King urged
Ms. Rowling not to kill of Harry off in the last installment, but Rowling made no promises.
UPDATE: Veritaserum has posted the full audio of the press conference.
UPDATE II: Video of the press conference can be seen here

SOme people will love it and some loathe it!? THat doesnt sound good, makes me think of Snape...Noooooo! Hope not! Hes the only real person i can think of that people are split on... *ponders*
I dont doubt she'll be a little sad, its been going on for a long time now, but i bet shell be so happy to be rid of the pressure what with having a family. Finaly have some peace and get on with her own life instead of concentrating on Harrys.

Well, I can understand it must be chaos within her sometimes... to be happy or not when HP ends... it's been such a part of her life! And we're all a bit confused too I think... But it has been an amazing experience so far and I am very much looking forward to the closing lines! (and then go on to find a substitute for dear Harry!)

Great! It won't be Harry, then. Because who would love it? Or Hermione? Or Hagrid? Who would love it? Interesting comment.

Some will loathe it? Some will love it? That's so cryptic. Hmmm... I thought Snape would get a reprieve, but now I'm starting to doubt it. Hmm... who could she mean? Maybe Draco because he has a love hate kind of thing going for him.

JKR: So sorry this is going to be the last Harry Potter book, but at the same time, I understand it must be a relief for you to be 'done' with Harry (though you realize you'll never be truly 'free' of Harry!) and wanted to offer some congratulations. You are an amazing woman with an extrodinary imagination, that got kids all over the world (and an impressive number of adults as well) to sit ddown with a book and READ instead of sitting infront of the TV or video game. I admire and respect you, and though we may not get any more new Harry Potter tales, in our imaginations he will live forever. Cheers!

Hmmm. . . Some people will loathe it. Some people will love it. . . AARGHH!!! The suspense is killing me! It's going to be so tough waiting a year for the book to come out. And so hard to see Harry go. . . But Jo said she'll write more books, just no more Harry Potter ones. I guess that's the best I can hope for. Sounds like everything at the event went cool.

Hmm, I wonder what she meant by that. Who would 'loathe it' and who would 'love it'? Is there like some sort of hatred to those characters that she will be killing?

Well...Jo, maybe you can try writing more little books about harry's world before leaving him at all...maybe it better for you to have an abrupt end for the serie...it depends on the person.
