As exclusively reported by HPANA back in April, composer Nicholas Hooper is set to write the music for director David Yates' Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, it was announced by Warner Bros. in a press release
today.
...composer Nicholas Hooper will create the film's score, reuniting him with director David Yates for whom he has scored multiple film and television projects, dating back more than 15 years. Hooper won a BAFTA Award for his work on the Yates-directed television movie The Young Visitors.
Helena Bonham Carter, who replaces Helen McCroy as Bellatrix Lestrange, was also confirmed.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is due out in 2007.

Hmm I havn't heard of this composer but I am looking forward to the new material he will bring to the OOTP score. I was rather impressed by Patrick Doyle in GOF so I have hope for this guy =]. John Williams will always be my favourite though. ROCK ON hedwigs theme!

Why can't they just keep John Williams? He is so incredible, and the GoF soundtrack was a huge letdown for me. Patrick Doyle was not good at all. I haven't heard anything my Cooper, though...I'm sure Williams is much better. Hello, he did Star Wars!

I don't know much about Hooper, but if he works well with David Yates, then I have every faith that the score for OotP will be great. Also, I think that Helena Bonham Carter is a great choice for Bellatrix. She should pull off that character marvelously.
