As exclusively reported by HPANA back in April, composer Nicholas Hooper is set to write the music for director David Yates' Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, it was announced by Warner Bros. in a press release
today.
...composer Nicholas Hooper will create the film's score, reuniting him with director David Yates for whom he has scored multiple film and television projects, dating back more than 15 years. Hooper won a BAFTA Award for his work on the Yates-directed television movie The Young Visitors.
Helena Bonham Carter, who replaces Helen McCroy as Bellatrix Lestrange, was also confirmed.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is due out in 2007.

I'm glad they know eachother meaning that they will most likely work together etroirdinarily. I hope they do a good job because I didn't particularly like the Goblet of Fire and Prisoner of Azkaban music. Bring back the first movie's music!

I definitely think John Williams scored the Harry Potter movies brilliantly, and is rather irreplaceable. I was quite disappointed with the music for the last movie, and I'm not certain Hooper is a good choice, as he has scored mainly TV series. Maybe his award means he can really do some fine work. However I'd fancy some more of Williams' music.

Well good luck to both of them for stepping into the Harry Potter world. I'm really glad that HBC was confirmed for Bellatrix, it will be wonderful to see how she portrays her, can't wait and it's still a good year to go till OotP comes out :(

Yay more OOTP! =) Okay, i'll be completely honest; i have never heard any off Hooper's music. It had better be good, because I think Williams or Doyle would have done a fine job; but I guess there has to be some new rythym. I hope hooper can do this for us =) As for Bonham Carter... As long as we have a Bella to strangle after she kills Sirius, then its all good.

I dont know if I know any of Hoopers music from other movies. BUUT I understand that Order of the Pheonix needs to have a diffrent background music. ESPECIALLY with the Ministry of Magic scenes and the Sirus Black dying in such an odd way.

More interesting news on OotP! I can't seem to find any pictures of these new harry potter actors. Well of course the actors playing luna lovegood and prfs. Umbridge in the new film but none of the others. Hopefully Hooper will satisfy everyone as much as Williams did, and considering Yates and Hooper have worked together on awarding winning projects I think it shall be a pretty good match persay. ahh Cannot wait untill the new film. it seems so far away though *tear*

I'll like to see Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange, the last movie I saw her in was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I hope that Hooper will keep all of the music magical, for that's really a part of the movie. The violin solos are amazing, and have really added to the atmosphere of the movies.

I like Helena Bonham Carter. I think it will be nice to see her on the evil side. She's usually so nice-- a tragic herione of some sort. Oh, except in "Fight Club." But I suppose there wasn't anyone nice in that.
I hope Nicholas Hooper does a good job with the music. So many movies nowadays have the musical score WAAAY louder than the vocal track. (Most notably Lord of the Rings, and Finding Neverland.) Harry Potter has been good about it so far.
