As exclusively reported by HPANA back in April, composer Nicholas Hooper is set to write the music for director David Yates' Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, it was announced by Warner Bros. in a press release
today.
...composer Nicholas Hooper will create the film's score, reuniting him with director David Yates for whom he has scored multiple film and television projects, dating back more than 15 years. Hooper won a BAFTA Award for his work on the Yates-directed television movie The Young Visitors.
Helena Bonham Carter, who replaces Helen McCroy as Bellatrix Lestrange, was also confirmed.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is due out in 2007.

I like Helena Bonham Carter. I think it will be nice to see her on the evil side. She's usually so nice-- a tragic herione of some sort. Oh, except in "Fight Club." But I suppose there wasn't anyone nice in that.
I hope Nicholas Hooper does a good job with the music. So many movies nowadays have the musical score WAAAY louder than the vocal track. (Most notably Lord of the Rings, and Finding Neverland.) Harry Potter has been good about it so far.

Ms. Carter seems to be a good choice to play Bellatrix, although I'm unfamiliar with her work. Frankly,I can't think of anyone to portray someone that evil. Her lack of anything emotionaly good comes very close to the Dark Lord himself. Just the thought of her gives me the "cobbly-wobbles".
Someone has already articulated my thoughts about Mr. Hooper. He's going to be creatings the best work of his life, or at least he should be. Blessings! Hecate3fold!

Cool. though i would have preferred John Williams to reprise his role as composer as he is the best known composer in the world. Good Luck to Mr Hooper and Ms carter. I hope Mr Hooper gets another Bafta for scoring OoTP.

I just have this odd feeling that the score isn't going to be as great as it can be. I mean Patrick Doyle was an obvious choice to take up the helm after Williams couldn't simply because he's done both action type films and family/children films scores so it was a no brainer and a really great choice in my opinion.
But Nic Hooper just...i dunno. I've been trying to get my hands on some of the music he's written to hear it and decide then, but until I do I'm going to be a little nervous. Not really because he hasn't composed anything of this size before, because really composing doesn't change too much because of the size, but simply because I've never even heard of him until they announced that he might be scoring the film. Then again I didn't know David Yates existed save for one film, which I saw a few ads for, and I have faith that he can really pull this off. We'll just have to wait and see. I really hope they do that thing with Moviefone where we get to listen to the whole score before it's released.
As for Helena Bonham Carter....I can't really understand why they didn't pick her in the first place. I mean she is the picturesque version of Bella. And besides she's married to Tim Burton so I'm sure some of his psycho-melodrama mindsets and crazy actions wormed off on her. I'm just really eager to see a trailer for this film...Can't wait until November for multiple reasons. (Please don't take that last comment as though I know the trailer will arrive in November. It's just educated guessing).

I'm glad that Hlena Bonham-Carter is at last confirmed. It does seem strange, though, to have such a wel-established actress in a far less established role, unless of course, she becomes that much more important later on. Helen McCrory must be kicking herself, though (not literally) - what a role to have to reject!

Hm. Nobody can replace John Williams (okay Hans Zimmer maybe). But I guess we have to let John go so; hey, Nicholas Hooper can't possebly be so bad. I'm sure he'll put some refreshment in the Potter movies. Something new. We've never heard.
Yeah.

I think there needs to be some more of hedwig's theme in the next movie. i loved the music for the goblet of fire but really felt like it was lacking because the theme was virtually nonexistent.

I still don't see why they have to keep changing musicians. I know that one (which one, I can't remember) but one of them was too busy working on another film, but why couldn't they go back to the original or something? This is the third composer we've had. This is becoming reminiscent of the directors.

I must say tough shoes to fill for Hooper. I hope he can fit the bill.
Bonham Carter has played so many strange things before she should be a fine replacement (as long as she doesn't wear plaid anymore).

I am starting to get really excited about Order of the Phoenix... It needs to be 2007 right now, but alas, we still have almost an entire year before the movie is due to come out. But, as always, I'm sure the movie will be well worth the very long wait...
