Last week we mentioned
that many entertainment sites had posted a release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Warner Bros. has confirmed for HPANA that the movie will be released on November 21, 2008, 16 months after Order of the Phoenix.
Even though this is the earliest fans have been given news about an upcoming Potter movie, please note that no additional information has been released - which means no director, no cast and certainly no composer.

Wow WB is certainly planning far in advance for this movie, even though only the date has been chosen and nothing else.

That's a bit optomistic of them. I suppose since they've confirmed it they'll try hard not to change the date, but I hope this doesn't mean they're rushing and skimping to get it out on time. Looking at the date it looks like they want to use the movie to kick off the holiday movie season which is probably why they're reserving the date so soon.

Ahhhhh, so close yet so absolutely far away! I remember when it seemed like a long way to POA, though. :P That date came and went and now we have to wait for OOTP first!

Well it's great we won't have to wait that long!!!! But on the other hand in a few short years we won't have any HP to look forward to......
That thought makes me sooo sad. We must enjoy all that we can... and hope with all our hearts that JKR misses Harry as much as we do and writes something else later on..... *sighs*

THAT'S SO COOL!!!!! But after Order of the Pheonix, we'd have to wait for a YEAR!!!! That's just too long...oh well. Like I said in the other post, 'at least it doesn't come out in 2009!'

I cannot believe that they can have a realease date without a director. Strange how it all works, but I'm thankful, 16 months is not too bad considering.

I'm confused... How can they actually confirm a release date for a movie that's in pre-production??? A lot of things could happen in such a long time!
Or do they have a competent Seer at Warner Bros.? ^^

Tara Piglet says:
I'm already looking forward to it. It's not going to be as thunderous as Order of the Pheonix and I was a little disappointed with Half-Blood Prince to say the least. I wanted it to take off from Order of the Phoenix, but now Ootp either has to strongly tie into Deathly Hallows or it's going to be this lone adventure of it's own like most of Goblet of Fire. Shucks. I wasn't thrilled about the horcruxes is what it is when you get right down to it. I guess the ministry stuff will be exciting.

Have all the actors signed up for HBP now? I read just today an article from Digital Spy (I think) that claims Emma Watson has dropped out of the last 2- I am on HPANA now trying to see if there is any official word on this. ?? I hope not, the last 2 movies will not do with a new Hermione! (I am also not trying to start a rumor, I am asking if anyone knows for sure--I checked and this did come from Digital Spy. I don't have any idea what kind of a publication or web site that is as I saw it posted somewhere else). Please tell me she's sticking it out??
