Harry Potter actors Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson both received their recent exam results last week and have both aced
them. Emma received eight A*s and two As in the GCSEs, while Dan received three A’s for his AS-levels.
Dan will be taking a year off from school due to his film and stage commitments and was said
by his publicist to “be over the moon” with his results.

Now what does that mean in Canadian marks?! Hahah I have no idea how the British system works obviously... =D
Sounds like a lot of marks though! Hmmm I wonder how their schooling compared to we who have to endure real school?
Back to school soon!! Yay! =D

It must be a relief for them to have their exams over.
How cool that they did so well! Congratulations Daniel and Emma! Of course, they must be quite intelligent to learn all of their lines, and the other parts of acting.

Deepti says:
Roswelladdict, GCSEs are the national exams all 16 year olds must take in the UK. Harry Potter-wise, they're like OWLS.
Most generally sit GCSEs in nine to eleven subjects, including the core subjects of English (one Literature, one Language), Maths, and Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology). As well as this, most students take at least one modern foreign language, a humanity (Religious Studies, History, Geography or Economics), and then there are a variety of other subjects to choose from.
You spend two years on the course starting when you're 14 (year 10 in the UK/HP fourth year), and sit the exams at the end of year 11 (HP fifth year), when you're 16. They're graded A*, A, B, C, and so on, down to G; anything above C grade is considered a pass. So 10 A* and A GCSEs for Emma, especially with her filming commitments, is exceptional :P
After GCSEs, you move on to what Dan's doing; AS and A2 levels (collectively called A-levels). You sit them in Years 12 and 13 (HP sixth and seventh years; they're a bit like NEWTS). Most people do 3-5 A levels, and they're graded in the same way as GCSES, except there's no A* grade, A's the highest. So again, Dan's results are pretty darn good.
Being the same age as Emma, I've just done my GCSEs and am about to start my A levels now too, so there's no escaping it really :P Hope that helps!

[apologies for double posting]
snaily, I got 9 A*s, so that's one GCSE less than Emma did, but I got one of the top five marks nationwide in two subjects, so I figure we even out! ;) Hope the explanation helped
